Vergennes Legion to host children’s Christmas party

VERGENNES — Vergennes American Legion Post 14 is again this year offering several holiday events for all ages, starting with the annual Children’s Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 16.
The Legion recently received confirmation from the North Pole that Santa Claus will again be on hand for the party, scheduled for 1-3 p.m. on the 16th. All area kids 10 years of age and younger and their parents are invited. Santa will have gifts for all the children. Merlin the Magician will perform his repertoire of magic tricks from 1:30-2:15 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
To ensure he brings enough gifts to go around, this year Santa has asked for a head count by Tuesday, Dec. 11. So attendees are asked to stop by the Legion Post at 100 Armory Lane any day after 11:30 a.m., call 877-3216 or send an email to [email protected] with “Children’s Christmas Party” in the subject line.
The fun continues on Friday, Dec. 21, when all area adults, whether affiliated with the Legion or not, are invited to a Christmas party and open house. The post opens to the public at 11 a.m.; the party, featuring music by Tony’s DJ, begins and 3 p.m. and continues until 8. There will be a cash bar.
And finally, adults are invited to ring in the New Year on Monday, Dec. 31, with a New Year’s Eve dinner dance, featuring shrimp cocktail and prime rib. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7. Following dinner, dance music will begin and continue through the evening. Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance at the Post.
American Legion Post 14 is located at 100 Armory Lane in Vergennes. For further information call 877-3216.
