Salisbury to host 7th annual tree lighting
SALISBURY — Organizers of the seventh annual tree lighting and library Christmas party in Salisbury this Sunday, Dec. 9, are inviting the entire community to come join the celebration.
The party in the library will begin at 3:30 p.m. with music by the Hardt family, reading of a holiday story, and refreshments.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. the celebration will move to Memorial Park at the intersection of West Salisbury Road and Maple Street, across from Maple Meadow Farm and the Tichacek house. Wagon rides will be available all afternoon from the park to the library and back.
At the park visitors can partake in carol singing, a remembrance of Salisbury residents, witness the arrival of Santa and, at around 5 p.m., enjoy the tree lighting.
The huge tree on the Tichaceks’ lawn has had many strings of LED lights placed by Green Mountain Power and, organizers said, will be even more beautiful this year.
John Tichacek said the annual celebration often draws more than 100 people.
“Since more and more folks seem to be coming from out of town for this, we hope to have a little bigger attendance this year — maybe 120 to 140 people,” he said.
