Carolyn Shattuck art exhibition set for Brandon café

BRANDON — A new show of original works by local artist Carolyn Shattuck is now open at Brandon Music Café, 62 Country Club Road, Brandon.
Shattuck was born in Montreal, Canada, and moved to the United States in 1971. She now resides in Rutland and has nearly 30 years experience working in diverse media. While a recognized leader in the art of book making and also still life, the exhibit at Brandon Music focuses on her unique print works. Individual monoprint plates printed over each other create subtle, layered environments of color, pattern and line. This technique creates a vibrant  image and the works are masterful both in their overall effect and in their fine detail.
Shattuck has exhibited her work nationally in numerous juried exhibitions including Delta National Small Prints, Parkside National Small Prints and Printwork ’98, 2K, at Barrett Art Gallery in Poughkeepsie. She has received numerous awards including the University of Texas, Purchase Award, National Works on Paper, and her books can be seen in numerous university special book collections. She teaches booka workshops in New England and Florida.
The works, which are all for sale, can be viewed on the Brandon Music website at www.brandon-music.net/gallery/shattuck.htm.
