ADDISON COUNTY — On Nov. 2 Vermont State Police in the New Haven barrack concluded an investigation that led to three Leicester residents being arrested on drug charges, and a fourth arrested for other alleged offenses.
Police said that at around noon this past Friday they went to a Route 7 home in Leicester and charged Larry Lanpher Sr., 48, with possession of marijuana and possession of a regulated substance; Melissa Lanpher, 42, with possession of a regulated substance; and Jonathan Lanpher, 19, with possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of stolen property and violation of conditions of release.
All three were cited to answer the charges in Addison Criminal Court on Jan. 7.
Troopers said that on Nov. 2, while conducting that investigation, they came in contact with William Theriault, 35, of Leicester and found him to be in possession of a controlled substance. They cited Theriault for possession of a controlled substance, he is due to answer the charge on Dec. 24.
In other recent activity, troopers:
•  On Oct 30 responded to a reported burglary on Lucia Lane in Ferrisburgh. The complainant advised someone had forced entry into the residence sometime between Aug. 5 and Oct. 30 and stolen numerous antiques, including an antique desk and chair. •  On Oct. 31 were called to investigate vandalism to a mailbox on Barnes Road in Whiting that occurred between 8 p.m. on Oct. 30 and 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.
•  On Oct. 31 at 1:44 a.m. cited Wren Hobbs, 18, of Salisbury, for unlawful mischief in connection with a report of mailbox vandalisms on various roads in Orwell and Cornwall.
•  On Nov. 1 responded to a burglary complaint on Gilson Lane in Ferrisburgh. The complainant said someone had entered the residence sometime between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and taken various items of value, including valuable jewelry. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the VSP.
•  On Nov. 2 at approximately 10:33 a.m. responded to a report of a fraud on an Orwell woman in her 70s. The resident had been contacted by an individual posing as a representative of Bank of America who told the victim she was the winner of a promotional contest in the amount of $350,000. The individual convinced the victim to send $5,000 as part of the terms of the contest, which she did. The victim was later contacted by the individual again, who told her the actual amount she had won was $4.1 million, but she would need to send more money. At this point the victim contacted a friend who told her it was a scam. Attempts by the victim to contact the individual were not successful. The Vermont State Police urge caution when sending money to unknown persons without verifying the identity of the recipient.
• On Nov. 2 at 11:40 p.m. stopped a car on Swamp Road in Salisbury because a taillight was out. A check of Department of Motor Vehicles records revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Burlington that day. The trooper arrested Jerry A. Dunbar, 24, of Milton for driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and turned him over to Burlington police.
•  On Nov. 3 at 8:51 a.m. responded to a report of a one-car crash on Route 125 in Cornwall. According to the driver she was eastbound on the road when a deer ran in the road in front of her. The driver hit the brakes and attempted to avoid hitting the deer but was unable to. The deer ran off after the crash, she said. The driver’s Toyota Prius sustained damage to the front end. No injuries were reported.
•  On Nov. 4 at 1:04 a.m. cited Brandon L. Couture, 25, of Middlebury for driving under the influence of alcohol on Route 116 in Bristol.
•  On Nov. 4 at approximately 1:30 a.m. were contacted by Middlebury police about a car stopped on the way to Porter Hospital from Weybridge. The driver of the vehicle told the officer that the female passenger had just been assaulted by her husband. The trooper cited Matthew Bruch, 56, of Weybridge for domestic assault and lodged him at Marble Valley Correctional Facility.
•  On Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. cited Adam Cross, 25, of Bristol for possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana after a traffic stop on Upper Notch Road in Bristol.
