MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a reported sexual assault involving a girl at a North Pleasant Street residence on Oct. 30. Police said the victim was examined at Porter Hospital and a report has been made to the Vermont Department of Children and Families. The matter remains under investigation, according to police.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Warned a man to stop texting a local woman on Oct. 29.
•  Investigated reports of a gunshot fired in the Mead Lane area on Oct. 29.
•  Quieted a loud party of “about 100 Middlebury College students” at a home on Washington Street on Oct. 29.
•  Served a no-trespass order on Oct. 31 on a man who was not wanted at Two Brothers Tavern. Police said the man was seen urinating on a parked vehicle near the restaurant.
•  Responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident, with injuries, on Route 7 South on Oct. 31.
•  Freed a two-year-old child who had been locked in a vehicle on Airport Road on Oct. 31.
•  Assisted a local woman who reported receiving harassing text messages from another woman on Oct. 31.
•  Told a homeless man on Nov. 1 that he would need to find another parking place in which to sleep in his vehicle. The man’s vehicle was parked next to the Town Hall Theater.
•  Responded to a noise complaint at the Middlebury Union High School athletic fields off Creek Road on Nov. 1. Police said the athletic director agreed to turn down the music that had been playing there.
•  Cited Samuel L. Wormer, 24, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, following a stop for not operating his headlights on Court Street on Nov. 2. Police said they measured Wormer’s blood-alcohol level at 0.110 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.
•  Received a report of someone driving away from the Middlebury Short Stop on Court Street on Nov. 2 without paying for $54.10 in gasoline. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
•  Served a court diversion notice on a young woman who attempted to buy alcohol from Hannaford’s Supermarket using a fake identification card on Nov. 2.
•  Served court diversion paperwork on a drunken youth who had been hanging out of a vehicle traveling on Court Street on Nov. 3.
•  Responded to reports of two youths trying to use fake identification cards to buy alcohol at Hannaford’s on Nov. 3. Police caught one of the youths and served him with court diversion paperwork.
•  Responded to a noise complaint at a Valley View Drive residence on Nov. 4.
•  Responded to a report of a dispute between two men in front of Shaw’s Supermarket on Washington Street. Police said one of the men was allegedly goading the other to punch him so he could sue him.
