Brandon police seize marijuana, tattooing equipment

BRANDON — As a result of recent raids on Brandon residences, police have seized more than two pounds of marijuana and busted a Brandon man for alleged illegal tattooing.
On Sept. 12 officers executed a search warrant at 41 Carver St., Brandon, which Police Chief Christopher Brickell identified as the apartment of 23-year-old Adam Collis and another occupant. As a result of the warrant Collis is facing two criminal charges of possession of marijuana and practicing tattooing without a license. Police also seized tattooing equipment from the residence.
Tattooing is a professionally regulated business licensed by the office of the Secretary of State.
Brickell said Collis was charged and convicted in 2011 for tattooing without a license, a charge brought by the Vermont Secretary of State’s office. Brickell explained that after police received information Collis was still tattooing people, and they applied for a search warrant.
Separately, Brandon police with assistance from Vergennes police on Friday executed a search warrant at 48 Conway Terrace, which Brickell said was the home of Harold P. Mahoney, 53, and Heather Fredette, 42. Brandon officers found marijuana, marijuana plants, narcotics and stolen property, Brickell reported. Police recovered more than two and a half pounds of marijuana, Brickell said in a press release.
As a result of the Conway Terrace search, three individuals were arrested and charged.
Mahoney faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics, possession of stolen property, sale of narcotics and contempt of court. Fredette was charged with possession of narcotics.
Brickell said 31-year-old Rena Clark of 31 Conway Terrace was charged with possession of narcotics.
