Lincoln News: Historical Society Museum open through season
LINCOLN — Have you planned a visit to the Lincoln Historical Society? The museum will be open until mid-October the second and fourth Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and by appointment. We are still interested in obtaining family histories.
With elections coming up this fall you may have questions about them that the town clerk could answer. The town clerk’s office is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesday evenings, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., or by appointment.
Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury, Victoria Blewer will be presenting a retrospective of her work and a slide presentation of how she has evolved as an artist. It is free and there will be refreshments.
The trustees of the United Church of Lincoln are working on scrapping and painting the exterior of the church. Sept. 20, 22 and 29 are some of the planned workdays. If you wish to help with this work please contact the church office at 453-4280 for more information, to volunteer or to verify the workdays.
Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m., about 100 people gathered at Burnham Hall to listen to live acoustic jazz and swing by Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats. This was one of a monthly series of musical evenings at Burnham Hall that will be taking place this fall and winter. Lewis Franco has been a fixture on the Vermont music scene for many years and a longtime resident of Calais. He currently performs as a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist with the Missing Cats: Will Patton, mandolin; Dono Schabner, guitar; and Clyde Stats, upright bass.
Almost 100 friends of Lee and Doris Cassidy gathered in Lincoln at the firehouse on Sept. 9 at a luncheon held to wish them well on their move to St. Albans. They have been part of the Lincoln community for over 62 years. They also celebrated Lee’s 85th birthday. The Cassidys were a big asset to Lincoln and will be sorely missed, and we hope they will visit Lincoln often.
