Middlebury Police Log: Man found unresponsive on town green
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a report of an unresponsive man lying on the ground near the town green gazebo on Sunday, Aug. 12. When police arrived at the scene, local physician Dr. Diana Barnard was performing chest compressions on the man while waiting for the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Asociation to arrive at the scene.
Once at Porter Hospital, the man regained a pulse and blood pressure, according to police.
In other action, Middlebury police:
• Responded to a reported burglary at a Cross Street apartment on Aug. 6. Turns out the apartment was damaged by the previous tenants, according to police.
• Investigated a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles at the Ridgeline recycling facility on Route 125 West on Aug. 6.
• Warned a group of youths not to skateboard on Merchants Row on Aug. 6.
• Received a report that a purple Cannondale (men’s) mountain bike had been stolen from the Mill Street area on Aug. 6.
• Were informed that a .22-caliber handgun had gone missing from a Seminary Street Extension home on Aug. 7.
• Responded to a family dispute at a Washington Street Extension home on Aug. 7.
• Were informed that a DeWalt tool kit had been stolen from the Paris Farmers Union store on Route 7 South on Aug. 8.
• Investigated a hit-and-run accident in the Congregational Church of Middlebury parking lot on Aug. 8.
• Responded to a trespassing complaint regarding some people hanging out in front of McDonald’s restaurant on Aug. 9.
• Interviewed a man who said he was slightly injured after being hit by a green Subaru that was headed west on East Main Street on Aug. 9.
• Responded to the reported theft of a “teacup” Chihuahua from a Middle Road home on Aug. 9.
• Served a no-trespass order on a man with a Batman umbrella who was allegedly making a store clerk uncomfortable at the Champlain Farms on Court Street on Aug. 9.
• Found two men sleeping in the town green gazebo on Aug. 10. Police told the men to move along.
• Were informed that someone had slashed two tires on a vehicle parked off Woodbridge Lane on Aug. 10.
• Responded, with rescue officials, to a Twin Circles home to help a person suspected to have overdosed on Aug. 10.
• Told a man he could not sleep overnight on the town green on Aug. 11.
• Found a Middlebury College language student sleeping on a lawn off South Main Street on Aug. 11. Middlebury College Public Safety officials collected the student and took him back to the campus.
• Assisted a local woman who had allegedly been receiving threatening phone calls from a man on Aug. 11.
• Responded to a report of a woman, carrying a child on her back, panhandling near Printer’s Alley on Aug. 11.
• Cited Renee L. Nicholson, 26, of Middlebury for driving with a suspended license on Court Street on Aug. 12.
• Responded to noise complaints in the Court Street and South Main Street neighborhoods on Aug. 13.
