MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police arrested Eric W. Turco, 21, of Rutland, on an outstanding arrest warrant out of Windham County for impersonating a public officer.
Police made the arrest after receiving a report of two men and a woman entering an office suite at the Marble Works alleging they were bail bondsmen. Police said one of the men allegedly tried to show a photo from his cell phone.
Police said they positively identified Turco by his fingerprints and, after arresting him, took him to the Marble Valley Correctional Center.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Cited Lily E. Babcock, 18, of Orwell, for driving under the influence, following an investigation in the Danforth Pewter parking lot off Seymour Street during the evening of July 9.
•  Responded to a report of an unwanted camper on the Courtyard by Marriott grounds on July 9. Police determined the camper was in fact a paying guest.
•  Investigated the theft of a jacket and sneakers from a Court Street residence on July 10.
•  Responded to a trespassing complaint in the Merchants Row area on July 10.
•  Assisted Porter Hospital officials with an uncooperative, unruly patient on July 10.
•  Responded and resolved a report that an emotionally distraught man had “barricaded” himself into his apartment on Court Street on July 10.
•  Investigated a report of a woman striking a child in the Hannaford Supermarket parking lot on Court Street on July 10. The child’s mother told police she slapped the child’s arm to get his attention. Police said they found no injuries on the child, but filed a report with the Vermont Department of Children and Families (DCF).
•  Responded, with Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association officials, to a Case Street apartment where a resident had overdosed on pills and alcohol on July 10.
•  Were informed that a vehicle had been keyed while parked at the Middlebury Inn on July 11.
•  Assisted a local man who reported receiving harassing phone calls from another man on July 11.
•  Received a report that a bike was stolen while it was parked off Munger Street on July 11. The victim told police he saw someone exit a white vehicle, load it up and drive off.
•  Were informed on July 11 that some medication had been stolen from a Valley View Drive home.
•  Assisted Porter Hospital Emergency officials with an uncooperative patient on July 11.
•  Received a report that a homeless person was sleeping in a Court Street resident’s garage on July 11.
•  Took into protective custody a very drunk man who was allegedly creating a disturbance in a Court Street apartment on July 12. Police measured the man’s blood-alcohol level at 0.357 percent.
•  Warned a woman for violating the town’s open container law on Maple Street July 12.
•  Responded to Porter Hospital on July 12 to investigate the suspected physical abuse of a three-month-old infant.
•      Photographed the child victim in a physical abuse case on July 12.
•  Assisted DCF with an alleged sexual abuse case on July 12.
•  Investigated the alleged theft of a truck from property across Route 7 south from Foster Motors on July 12. Police said the truck has reportedly broken down two weeks earlier.
•  Responded to a complaint about people “hugging and kissing” on a South Pleasant Street resident’s car on July 12.
•  Investigated a two-vehicle accident, with injuries, on Exchange Street on July 13.
•  Responded to a report of a man threatening to commit suicide using pills and alcohol at a North Pleasant Street residence on July 13. Rescue officials took the man to Porter Hospital.
•  Spoke with families of two local youths who had been throwing rocks at mailboxes and signs on Buttolph Drive on July 13.
•  Took into evidence a potentially counterfeit $10-bill that had been passed at a Court Street business on July 13.
•  Assisted a local woman who had been receiving harassing phone calls on July 14.
•  Warned two people on July 14 to pick “a more private place to engage in sexual acts” than behind the Vermont Folklife Center building on Main Street.
•  Warned two men about breaking the public urination ordinance on Park Street on July 14.
•  Investigated the reported theft of some prescription drugs from an Evergreen Lane resident’s home on July 15.
•  Responded to a report of a patient refusing to leave Porter Hospital after having been treated at the Emergency Room on July 15. Police said the man left before they arrived.
•  Responded, with rescue officials, to a Twin Circles home to get help for a woman who had allegedly tried to harm herself on July 15.
•  Quieted two people who were having a loud conversation at the village green gazebo during the evening of July 16.
