Bristol Police Log: Bristol man arrested for bail terms violation

BRISTOL — Bristol police on May 11 arrested and lodged a Bristol man for allegedly violating his conditions of release.
Police Chief Kevin Gibbs said Whalen Goucher, 43, was previously arrested for stalking a local woman and had posted $10,000 bail on May 9. Gibbs alleged that Goucher lied on his bail bond application, saying he had no criminal record when he had an extensive record in Massachusetts, including armed robbery.
But that wasn’t the reason police pursued Goucher. The Bristol police were aware of Goucher’s release and arrested him when he failed to notify the court of his whereabouts, as was a required condition of his release. Goucher was further charged with obstructing justice when he threatened the arresting officer, said Gibbs.
In other recent activity Bristol police:
•  On May 7 assisted state police with a crash on York Hill Road in Lincoln, where the subject reportedly crashed into a tree and then took off into the woods with a female companion. The officer returned to the scene at the request of the state police, who observed Cushman running through the woods. He was located and charged with leaving the scene of the accident. Gibbs explained that a driver involved in a crash is legally required to identify himself or herself at the scene of the crash.
