Unitarians call Rev. Barnaby Feder
MIDDLEBURY — The Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society in Middlebury voted on Sunday, April 22, to call as its next settled minister the Rev. Barnaby J. Feder of Montclair, N.J. Feder succeeds the congregation’s interim minister, the Rev. Emily Melcher, and will begin work on Aug. 1, 2012.
Feder was ordained on April 29 in New Jersey, and is currently completing an interim ministry at the Stroudsburg, Pa., Unitarian Universalist fellowship. He was for 27 years a science and technology reporter for The New York Times before entering the Drew University Theological School in 2009. Raised a Unitarian Universalist in San Mateo, Calif., he is also a graduate of Williams College and the University of California School of Law.
Each UU congregation calls its own ministers, with guidance from the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA), which also credentials ministers.
The Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society offers Sunday morning worship and religious education for children, teens and adults in its new sanctuary building at the corner of Charles Avenue and Duane Court in Middlebury. More information can be found at www.cvuus.org.
