Weybridge house robbed as elderly couple sleeps

WEYBRIDGE — Vermont State Police arrested two Weybridge youths in connection with a burglary at an occupied, local dwelling on April 20.
One of the accused — Ariel Moore, 19 — is the granddaughter of the owners of the home, who were sleeping at the time of the crime, according to police.
Both Moore and her alleged accomplice, Jessi L. Curavoo, 18, are accused in the April 20 break-in of the Perkins Road home of Ida and Lawrence Washington, 87 and 86, respectively. The culprits allegedly made off with $2,750 worth of property from the home.
Moore and Curavoo are alleged to have sold the bulk of the stolen items — $2,500 in sterling silverware — to a South Burlington pawn shop for $1,250, according to court documents. Moore is alleged to have given Curavoo $200 to pay for drugs, while Moore told police she planned to use the balance for a medical procedure, according to court documents.
Ida Washington, a noted Weybridge historian, told police she suspected her granddaughter after she saw her examining the silverware at a recent family gathering.
Police cited Moore for burglary of an occupied dwelling, while Curavoo was cited for aiding in the commission of a felony (burglary of an occupied dwelling) and possession of stolen property.
After being cited, Moore and Curavoo were lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center on $15,000 bail and $5,000 bail, respectively.
Both Moore and Curavoo pleaded innocent to the charges in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Monday.
