Jericho man kills himself after domestic incident

BRISTOL — Vermont State Police are investigating an April 22 domestic assault in Bristol that culminated in the suspected suicide of the perpetrator in Jericho later that day.
Police said they initially responded to a reported domestic assault at a home on Route 116 in Bristol where a man and woman were allegedly assaulted by Shad Hance, 39, of Jericho. State police declined to identify the victims or their address, citing the ongoing investigation and a desire to protect the identities of assault victims.
The victims sustained minor injuries, according to police. After leaving the Bristol home, police said Hance headed north. State police responded to Hance’s home on Morgan Road in Jericho. There, they found Hance deceased in his vehicle in the driveway. The cause of death, according to police, was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Hance’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further review.
State police termed the case a “domestic incident,” but did not provide further details regarding the motive of the assault-suicide.
