VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Feb. 20 cited two men involved in the same incident for driving with suspended licenses, criminal offenses, citing one of the men twice. 
The incident began when police checked a suspicious car at Champlain Farms on Main Street and discovered its license plates were assigned to a different vehicle. They then cited the operator, George Hallock Jr., 28, of Waltham, for a criminal DLS (driving with license suspended), as well as ticketed him for driving an unregistered and uninsured car with unassigned plates.
Police gave Hallock a courtesy ride home. Shortly afterward they stopped him driving another car that he had apparently borrowed from a relative. Police then issued Hallock a second citation for criminal DLS.
In the meantime, police learned that the car Hallock had first driven had been moved. They alleged that Mark Kennedy, 25, of Vergennes had done so while driving with a suspended license, and they issued him a citation for criminal DLS.
In other incidents between Feb. 20 and 26, Vergennes police:
•  On Feb. 20 accepted unused pain medication for safe disposal.
•  On Feb. 21 helped the Addison County State’s Attorney’s office conduct a background check.
•  On Feb. 22 cautioned the owners of a dog that had gotten off leash and chased a woman.
•  On Feb. 22 cited a motorist for driving without insurance.
•  On Feb. 23 cited Darrell L. Gevry, 45, of Ferrisburgh for driving under the influence of alcohol, fourth offense, after following his car into a New Haven Road parking lot because it had a loud muffler. Police allege Gevry’s blood-alcohol contest tested at 0.135 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. Police also said Gevry first identified himself as another family member, and they also cited him for providing false information to a police officer.
•  On Feb. 23 received and researched a tip about a drug dealer operating in the Bristol-Vergennes area, and shared the information with other police.
•  On Feb. 23 accepted two batches of unused pain medication for safe disposal.
•  On Feb. 24 advised a Thomas Circle resident how to deal with a phone problem.
•  On Feb. 24 warned an Addison man to stop repeatedly calling the Vermont State Police dispatcher and asking to talk to the city’s police chief.
•  On Feb. 24 issued a no-trespass order to the son of a Main Street apartment resident.
•  On Feb. 24 checked out a report of a tractor-trailer unit stuck on the hill near the Otter Creek bridge, but it was gone when they arrived.
•  On Feb. 24 helped a motorist get into a locked car on South Water Street.
•  On Feb. 25 cited Eric J. Walczyk, 26, of West Islip, N.Y., for possession of about seven grams of marijuana and for speeding.
•  On Feb. 25 investigated along with firefighters a report of a loud noise, possibly an explosion, at a South Maple Street residence; officials determined there was no explosion and theorized the building’s old foundation might have shifted.
•  On Feb. 25 went to Kimball Dock Road in Ferrisburgh to report to residents there that police in Louisiana had discovered some of their property had been stolen and recovered.
•  On Feb. 25 advised an East Street resident how to deal with a phone problem.
•  On Feb. 26 took a report from a High Manor Park, Waltham, resident that pain medication had been stolen.
•  On Feb. 26 told a woman sending threatening text messages to a South Water Street resident to stop.
