ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are on the lookout for two men who left their vehicle at the end of a police chase and ran into the woods in Salisbury.
Trooper Hanley reported that on Feb. 15 at 4:16 p.m. VSP attempted to stop a red Chevy Cavalier with Vermont plates on Route 7 in Brandon. There were two occupants in the vehicle, both African American males.
The vehicle did not stop and led VSP on approximately a 9-mile pursuit from Brandon to Salisbury. On West Shore Road near the intersection of Route 53, this vehicle crashed into a small wooded area. Trooper Hanley reported that both men “took leg bail” — ran off — into the woods off the east side of West Shore Road.
Attempts to locate the men were unsuccessful. Both are believed to have sustained injuries from the crash. Anyone with information on the identity of these subjects is encouraged to contact the New Haven VSP barracks at 388-4919.
Separately, VSP are looking for the public’s help in their investigation of a series of burglaries on Camp Road in Monkton. Anybody with information is asked to contact VSP New Haven at 388-4919. Troopers encourage anybody on this road who owns a camp that has been burglarized to file a police report.
A separate burglary was reported in Monkton at the Norris Berry Farm on Feb. 19. Trooper Busier reported that Norma Norris came back from vacation to find that her Davis Road home had been burglarized and several items taken from inside and outside of the residence. Further, approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel were reported stolen from an outside tank and all the fuel from several tractors was siphoned off. The burglary and thefts occurred sometime in the previous two weeks and a suspicious black Chevrolet Lumina was seen in the area on Feb. 17.
In other recent activity, VSP:
•  On Feb. 13 at approximately 6:34 p.m. responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 30 in Whiting. Trooper Szarejko reported that Perley J. Jerome, 47, of Whiting was driving a 10-wheel farm dump truck northbound and lost control of the truck. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and ultimately rolled onto its side. Perley was transported to Porter Hospital where he received medical treatment. The truck was reported as a total loss. The weather was clear and the road dry.
•  On Feb. 17 at 9 a.m. responded to a one-car crash on Gove Hill Road in Lincoln. Trooper Doxsee reported that Henrietta Agyemang, 27, of Lincoln was driving a Volvo XC7 station wagon northbound on Gove Hill Road when she lost control on an icy patch on a downhill turn and the car struck a tree. No one was injured, though the car was damaged. VSP cited Agyemang for failing to maintain control of her vehicle.
•  On Feb. 17 at 6:19 p.m. were dispatched to a Sanford Road home in Orwell for a reported citizen dispute. Trooper Szarejko reported that Lene Gipe, 26, of Rutland was involved in a physical altercation after being asked to leave the property numerous times. Gipe was cited for unlawful trespass and simple assault.
•  On Feb. 18 discovered the whereabouts of Ralph Cameron, 46, of Shoreham. Cameron was the target of an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in a Feb. 14 domestic fight on Shacksboro Road in Shoreham. On the 18th troopers took Cameron into custody at gunpoint, cited him for domestic assault and lodged him at Marble Valley Correctional; bail was set at $10,000.
•  On Feb. 20 at approximately 9:45 p.m. responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 7 by Jerry’s Nissan in Rutland. Trooper Michael Tietz reported that Bethany Penoyer, 29, of Middlebury had crashed her vehicle into a guardrail. He cited Penoyer with driving under the influence.
