ADDISON COUNTY — While patrolling Morgan Horse Farm Road in Weybridge on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 8, Vermont State Police Trooper Tim Hanley checked on a vehicle parked in a pull off next to the bridge over Otter Creek.
The trooper said the driver, Jamie C. Martin, 30, of Castleton, falsely identified himself as a Massachusetts man. Martin’s privilege to drive in Vermont is suspended.
The trooper cited Martin for driving with a criminally suspended license and providing false information to a police officer.
In other recent activity, VSP working out of the New Haven barracks:
•  On Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. cited Jamie L. Prim, 41, of Vergennes for driving with a criminally suspended license on Plank Road in New Haven.
•  On Dec. 6 notified the public that police are on the lookout for a 17-year-old who was reported to have run away from a New Haven home. Trooper Busier reported that Cheri Jean Karzmarczyk was reported to have run away from her residence sometime after 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. Karzmarczyk was described as a white female, 5-foot-4-inches tall, approximately 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She may be wearing sweat pants and a maroon Carhartt jacket. Police said her whereabouts were unknown, but it is possible she may be headed to her biological mother’s home in Colorado.
•  On Dec. 7 at approximately 4:10 p.m. stopped a vehicle driven by Stephen Muller, 49, of Vergennes for speeding on West Main Street in Vergennes. Trooper Pregent subsequently arrested Muller  without incident for driving with a criminally suspended license, third offense, and transported to the New Haven state police barracks where he was processed and released on a citation.
•  On Dec. 7 at a little before 10 p.m. stopped a vehicle driven by Dylan Racine, 21, of Bristol on Plank Road in New Haven for defective equipment. Police cited Racine for possession of marijuana.
•  On Dec. 8 at 7:51 a.m. responded to a two-car accident on Route 7. Police said a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Tonya S. St. Pierre of Burlington was stopped in the southbound lane of Route 7 stuck on an icy hill when a 1997 Honda CR-V driven by Cassandra F. Gengras, 29, of Burlington came up from behind, was unable to stop and rear-ended  St. Pierre’s Toyota. Police issued a written warning to Gengras for following too closely. There were no injuries and police said speed was not a factor in this collision.
•  On Dec. 9 asked the public for help in solving an earlier crime. On Nov. 27 at approximately 11 p.m. troopers responded with Bristol police to a reported burglary on Woodland Drive in Bristol. Investigation revealed that an individual broke into the residence while the owners were home. Numerous items were broken and vandalized inside the residence. Anybody with information about the incident is asked to call the Vermont State Police New Haven barracks at 388-4919.
•  On Sunday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. were called to investigate an attempted theft from a River Road home in New Haven. The victim reported that she observed three people leaving her driveway carrying her snowplow attachment. When she surprised the three they reportedly dropped the plow and left the area on foot. Police are attempting to identify the three people. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Armstrong at 388-4919.
•  On Monday, Dec. 12, at 12:47 a.m. responded to the report that a driver from Essex Junction had struck one of four deer crossing Route 7 near the intersection of Route 22A in Ferrisburgh. There were no injuries reported, but minor the vehicle sustained damage.
•  On Monday, Dec. 12, at around 6 p.m. responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Route 74 in Shoreham. Upon arrival the trooper found that a vehicle had collided with five or six broken round hay bales that had presumably fallen off a trailer during transport. The trooper reported that the operator and passenger said “several cars” had passed by the immobilized vehicle without stopping to help. The Shoreham Fire Department, Shoreham First Response and Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association aided VSP on the scene.
