Vergennes Police Log
VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited two women in the aftermath of a late-afternoon Oct. 17 fight on North Green Street that police said was triggered by a dispute over a mutual male friend.
Police said the two women — Amanda Plankey, 21, of Bristol and Korey Koch, 22, of Vergennes — were both yelling at each other and hit each other in the face “several times” before they were separated.
Police cited Koch for simple assault for allegedly starting the fight, and cited Plankey for disorderly conduct by mutual affray.
In other incidents between Oct. 17 and 23, Vergennes police:
• On Oct. 17 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Third Street.
• On Oct. 17 checked the welfare of a South Maple Street resident, who was found to be fine.
• On Oct. 18 met with prevention specialists at Vergennes Union High School to provide training.
• On Oct. 18 calmed a student who had left VUHS after a confrontation with school staff members.
• On Oct. 19 were told that Northlands Job Corps security had confiscated marijuana and drug paraphernalia from a New York City student who had then been dismissed from the program; city police said they have evidence to charge him with distribution of drugs and they expect to pursue charges.
• On Oct. 19 met with a VUHS student to mentor him and help with homework.
• On Oct. 19 checked a report that a woman was heard screaming in a Main Street residence and determined that she and a man were involved in “horseplay.”
• On Oct. 20 responded along with Vermont State Police and the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad to a Panton home on Route 22A to help a woman who was suicidal; police said she was taken to Porter Hospital to meet with the Counseling Service of Addison County.
• On Oct. 20 were told that sometime since March paintball equipment and a hunting bow and arrows had been taken from a North Street storage building.
• On Oct. 20 were told a dog had bitten a boy when he walked into the animal’s Main Street home.
• On Oct. 21 dealt with a minor two-car accident at the intersection of South Maple and School streets.
• On Oct. 21 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Main Street.
• On Oct. 22 helped Middlebury police at a traffic stop.
• On Oct. 22 began investigating vandalism to the VUHS varsity soccer field; police said they had no leads as of Monday.
• On Oct. 22 dealt with a minor two-car accident in a North Main Street parking lot.
• On Oct. 23 looked for youths reported to be running around the VUHS school buses, but found no one.
