MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police warned a Williamstown, Vt., man to stop harassing workers at the Middlebury office of the Vermont Department of Children and Families on Sept. 17.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Investigated the reported violation of a no-contact order by a local woman on Sept. 12.
•  Were informed that someone had stolen a cell phone from the girls’ locker room at Middlebury Union High School on Sept. 12.
•  Served a no-trespass order on Sept. 12 on a man who was not wanted on MUHS grounds.
•  Investigated a report on Sept. 12 that some out-of-district students might be attending MUHS.
•  Responded to an illegal dumping complaint off Case Street on Sept. 12. Police said they found the person responsible for dumping three bags of trash.
•  Received a complaint about a fire pit near the intersection of Washington and Seminary streets on Sept. 12. Police said smoke from the pit was irritating a neighbor. Police urged the pit owner to gauge the wind direction before burning.
•  Cited Kyle T. Hamblin, 19, of Middlebury for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, following an incident on Franklin Street on Sept. 13.
•  Cited a Bridport man for driving with a suspended license on Court Street on Sept. 13.
•  Cited Christopher L. Sumner, 29, of North Ferrisburgh for driving with a suspended license (criminal count) on Seminary Street on Sept. 13.
•  Received a report that someone had, using a key, scratched a vehicle  parked off Seymour Street on Sept. 13.
•  Responded to a report of a disturbance at the Turning Point Center of Addison County on Sept. 13. Police said a man had engaged in a verbal dispute with another person at the center.
•  Arrested James M. Moss, 32, of Middlebury on an outstanding warrant on Sept. 13.
•  Investigated allegations on Sept. 14 of an out-of-district family sending two children to MUHS.
•  Cited a Burlington man for driving with a suspended license in Woodland Park on Sept. 14.
•  Received a report of vandalism to a Weybridge Street resident’s garden on Sept. 14.
•  Investigated a trespassing complaint at a North Pleasant Street residence on Sept. 14.
•  Were informed that someone had driven away from the Middlebury Village Depot on Court Street without paying for $20 in gas on Sept. 14.
•  Cited a local woman for driving with a suspended license on Exchange Street on Sept. 15.
•  Retrieved around 50 hypodermic needles that had been left at a pull-off area on North Branch Road on Sept. 15.
•  Responded to a dispute between two Court Street neighbors on Sept. 15.
•  Investigated a  report of a woman screaming and creating a disturbance in the Jayne Court neighborhood on Sept. 16.
•  Responded to a dispute between two neighbors in the Seminary Street area on Sept. 16.
•  Investigated a gasoline drive-off, for $100, at the Middlebury Short Stop on Route 7 South on Sept. 16.
•  Served a no-trespass notice on a man who was not wanted at MUHS on Sept. 16.
•  Cited Desiree Simmons, 41, who is homeless, for the theft of electricity from an outlet at the state office building in Middlebury South Village on Sept. 16.
•  Investigated a harassment complaint at the Congregational Church of Middlebury on Sept. 17. Police said a man seeking lunch at the church exhibited behavior that made a female worker uncomfortable.
•  Responded to a dispute between two Washington Street neighbors on Sept. 17.
•  Received a complaint about noise emanating from a Cross Street apartment on Sept. 18.
•  Responded to a family dispute at a Route 7 South residence on Sept. 18.
•  Broke up a loud party at Middlebury College’s Sperry House on Franklin Street on Sept. 19.
