Middlebury Rotary plans online auction
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Rotary Club members this month are hoping to double the success of last year’s on-line auction that netted around $5,000 for local charitable causes.
Titled “Bidding for Good,” Rotary’s third annual on-line auction has already received 175 donated items with a combined retail value of around $17,000, according to Scott Needham, co-chair of the club’s auction committee.
“We should end up with 180 to 190 items, with a retail value of around $18,000,” Needham said.
Bids will be accepted at www.biddingforgood.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?vhost=middleburyrotary, beginning on April 9. Bidding will close at midnight on April 23. Proceeds will benefit the Vermont Families Military Relief Fund, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Middlebury Rotary’s many local charitable causes.
The theme of the auction is, “Give a little and get a lot in return.”
The auction thus far includes many gift certificates to area restaurants and stores, two books signed by local author Bill McKibben, two original prints by Middlebury artist Nancie Dunn, a 2011-21012 pass to the Middlebury College Snow Bowl, a basketball autographed by the 2010-2011 Middlebury College basketball team, an $850 wedding gown and many other items.
People also have a little more time to donate auction items, which they can do through the auction Website.
