Political breakfast series set

ADDISON COUNTY — Bridport Grange No. 303 this week confirmed a 2011 legislative breakfast series that will debut on Monday, Feb. 7, and include a March 7 session with the state’s new governor, Peter Shumlin.
Bridport Grange is once again organizing the Monday morning legislative breakfasts this year, with support from the Middlebury Chamber of Commerce and Addison County Regional Planning Commission. As has been the custom, the breakfasts will begin at 7 a.m., with the political program beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending promptly at 8:45 a.m.
For more than three decades, the legislative breakfasts have provided Addison County residents with a forum in which to interact with their local representatives and senators and glean news and analysis of the many issues being debated under the Golden Dome.
The series will include one luncheon that will be devoted to farming issues. That ag luncheon will be held at the Bridport Community Hall on Monday, March 21, from noon to 1:45 p.m.
Organizers will be putting out a donation jug and will encourage the purchase of breakfast foods at the Monday gatherings to defray the cost of the series.
The legislative breakfast series will wrap up June 6 with a post-session wrap-up at the Bridport Grange Hall.
