College to host senior star game
MIDDLEBURY — The annual Vermont North-South All-Star Football game for high school seniors will be played Saturday, Nov. 21, at Middlebury College’s Youngman Stadium with a noon kickoff.
The game has become a November tradition since making its debut in 2001 and serves as an unofficial tryout for the annual Vermont-New Hampshire Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, which will be played next August. The series is tied at four wins apiece.
The contest typically features at least one senior from each of Vermont’s varsity programs, but the injury-plagued Mount Abraham Union High School team will not be sending a representative this year, according to coach Ernie Senecal.
Representing Middlebury will be offensive and defensive lineman James Danyow and defensive back/running back Ryan Foley.
Representing Otter Valley will be linebacker/fullback Andrew Piper and defensive back/receiver Casey Babcock.
Mike Williams, who coached the BFA-Fairfax Bullets to a Division IV playoff berth, will be the head coach of the North squad and Burr and Burton Academy coach and former Middlebury College assistant Jason Thomas will coach the South team.
