Norma O. Kimball

LINCOLN — Norma O. Kimball, age 77, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 24, at UVM Medical Center.

She was born on March 18, 1941, in Staten Island, N.Y., the fourth child of Alice Z. Mason and the only child of Otis Owen.

She was predeceased by her mother, father, and three older brothers; Larry, Burton, and Marvin Zeno. Also by her son, Shaun Steadman, her daughter-in-law Theresa and her grandson George.

Gail Mary Chartier Foerch

FERRISBURGH — Gail Mary Chartier Foerch, age 81, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington Vt., after a long illness resulting from a major stroke. Gail was born in Bristol, Conn., July 27, 1937. She was the daughter of Henry And Olive (Roy) Chartier.

Gail received her education at Terryville High School and later went on to study at Goodwin Technical School of Cosmetology. After completing her schooling she worked in various shops in the area.

Marjorie P. Douglas

SHOREHAM — Marjorie “Marge” Douglas died peacefully, Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing in Middlebury, Vt., at the age of 99. She was born June 3, 1919, in Wells, Vt., to Harry and Orrilla (Fish) Park. Marge married Edwin C. Douglas on June 12, 1943, and they lived in Shoreham most of their lives.

Clifford W. Wildey, 87, Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Clifford W. Wildey passed away in his home in Middlebury, surrounded by his family, on Thanksgiving morning. He was 87 years old.

A viewing will be held at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home in Middlebury on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Mary’s Church, Middlebury, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. A complete obituary will follow at a later date.

James Apgar, 62, Lincoln

LINCOLN — James Wire Apgar, 62, of Lincoln, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his uniquely customized South Lincoln home in the early morning hours on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.

Audrey Abernethy, 92, Bristol

BRISTOL — Audrey Abernethy, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at Living Well Nursing Home in Bristol, Vt. She was born on Sept. 17, 1926 in Sunderland, England. After school she enlisted in the British Army serving as a nurse in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency. Following the army she met and married Kenneth Abernethy in Sunderland, they moved to Scotland, and then emigrated to the United States in 1967.

Philip Benedict, 90, Bristol

BRISTOL — Philip S. Benedict died on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at the age of 90. He was born on June 1, 1928, to Abe and Delia (Odette) Benedict.

He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife Mae (McDowell) after 68 years of happiness. He is survived by two sons; Niles Benedict of Bristol, Vt., and Brian Benedict and his wife Valerie and Grandson Philip of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He also has one surviving sibling, George Benedict of Green Valley, Ariz.

Constance (Connie) Andrews Everest

ADDISON — Constance (Connie) Andrews Everest, 66, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, in her sleep, with her family at her home. She was born in Middlebury, Vt., on June 12, 1952, to William and Eileen (Wager) Andrews. She graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1970. Upon graduation she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager with many years spent at New England Air Systems.

Anne Marie Almeida

MIDDLEBURY — Anne Marie Almeida, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at her residence in Middlebury. She was born June 12, 1933, in Pawtucket, R.I., the daughter of George and Yvonne (Cote) Bouffard.

She was a loyal homemaker, staunch local artisan supporter, landowner, avid gardener, nature enthusiast, and devoted long-time volunteer at Neat Repeats, where she made enduring friendships.

Theodore “Ted” N. Otis

LEICESTER — Theodore “Ted” N. Otis, 67, died peacefully on Saturday morning Nov. 10, 2018, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1950, in New Haven the son of Max Slater Otis and Marion Nina (Moore) Otis. He was predeceased by both his parents and his brother James Otis.

Ted was a graduate of Middlebury High School and attended Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
