ANNE MARIE HASKINS

COOS BAY, Ore. — A celebration of life for Anne Marie Haskins, 53, of Coos Bay, formerly of Powers, will be announced at a later date. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Anne was born August 24, 1963, in Burlington, Vt., to Joseph Leonard Haskins and Elaine Joyce (Clark) Haskins. She received her angel wings and much needed peace February 14, 2017, in Myrtle Point.

BRANDON — Curtis Anthony Scarborough, age 74, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

JONATHAN RYAN

ORWELL — Jonathan Spencer Ryan passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, doing what he loved, in a snowmobiling accident on Lake Champlain. His greatest joys came from the outdoors; his Grandpa’s farm, sugaring and fishing. Jonathan was a risk taker and he lived life on the edge, with a large circle of intensely loyal friends.

Family was incredibly important to him, especially being an uncle to Isaac and Lilli, and extending to his constant companion, his dog, Blue. He loved sharing pictures and videos of his adventures with Blue, which brought him friends from afar.

WILLIAM BECK

MIDDLEBURY — William “Bill” L. Beck of Middlebury passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2017, at the age of 87 following a brief illness. He was born in Malden, Mass., on Sept. 1, 1929, the son of the late William M.H. Beck, Jr. and Ruth Clark LeBaron Beck.

BRANDON BARRETT

BENSON — Brandon Michael Barrett, 23, of Benson died snowmobiling on Lake Champlain on Feb. 9.

He was born Feb. 22, 1993, in Rutland, the son of Brad and Malinda (Kemp) Barrett.

He graduated from Fair Haven Union High School (2011), where he played football and wrestled, and studied electrical and plumbing at Stafford Tech Center.

He was employed by Killington as a snowmaker.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and was a New England Motor Cross Champion.

DALE ALLEN

NEW HAVEN — Dale E. Allen, 60, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at his home in New Haven.

He was born June 4, 1956 in Claremont, N.H., the son of Harold and Pearlene (Slack) Allen.

Dale is survived by his father Harold Allen, a brother Gary Allen, an aunt Barbara Magee, and many uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Pearlene Allen.

JONATHAN RYAN

ORWELL — Jonathan Spencer Ryan, 32, of Orwell died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, in a snowmobile tragedy in Putnam, N.Y.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering “In Celebration of His Life,” which will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at Brandon American Legion Post No. 55.

Following the ceremony the family will receive friends there, for a time of remembrance.

A complete obituary will appear at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

GENE WILLEY

SHOREHAM — Gene D. Willey, 86, passed away at the home of his son, Lyle, in Bakersfield on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 24, 1930 in West Littleton, N.H. to Rupert and Georgia (Farnham) Willey.

NEW HAVEN — William Martin Simmons (born Sept. 25, 1953), devoted father, son, partner and sibling, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 9, 2017, in New Haven, Vt.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
