Heather Lynn Richards

LINCOLN — Funeral services for Heather Lynn Richards, 39, of Lincoln, who died peacefully on Oct. 27th from a brief illness, will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lincoln United Church. Friends may call at Lincoln United Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. up to the hour of the funeral.

GUSTAVE OLSON

ORWELL — Gustave Edwin Olson, 73, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born in Wildwood, N.J., on Dec. 8, 1940. He was the son of Gustave and Beatrice (Herd) Olson. He grew up in Wildwood where he received his early education, and graduated from Wildwood High School, class of 1959.

EVELYN JENNINGS

BRISTOL — Evelyn Ford (Gaskin) Jennings, 98, of Bristol died peacefully at home Oct. 14, 2014, surrounded by family. She was born June 24, 1916, in Lyndonville (though she has always said her birthday was on the 23rd). She was the daughter of Robert and Dora (Plummer) Gaskin.

She was married Aug. 28, 1938, to Frederick Eugene Jennings Sr., who predeceased her in June 1986.

BEVERLY “DUSTY” GODFREY

SHOREHAM — Beverly “Dusty” Godfrey, 87, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Beverly was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Fairlee, Vt., the son of Ray and Dorothy (Sanborn) Godfrey. His father remarried in 1943 to Alice Tilden of Norwich, who became his stepmother. His wife, Vera G. Godfrey, predeceased him on June 20, 2013, at the age of 87 after 68 years together.

THE REV. LEE DEVOE GREINER

BETHEL — The Rev. Lee Devoe Greiner, 55, of Bethel died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born May 29, 1959, in Riverhead, N.Y., the middle daughter of Arthur and Ann Greiner. She grew up in Cornwall, Montpelier and Middlebury, Vt., and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1977.

She attended Middlebury College, and, after her senior year, married Don Burns, who also attended Middlebury. They settled in Bridport, Vt., and had three children, Jamaica, Ben and Eliza.

RUTH EILEEN JOY

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ruth Eileen Joy passed away Friday, Oct. 3, in Jacksonville, Fla., with her children at her bedside. A longtime resident of Sanibel Island and seasonal resident of New Haven/Middlebury with her late husband, (restaurant owner) Eben Joy, she had resided the past two years in Jacksonville, and earlier in Ft. Myers and New Philadelphia, Ohio.

CINDY D. ORLEANS

ORWELL — Cindy D. Orleans, 65, of Orwell died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Fletcher Allen Health Care with her family by her side.

She was born at Porter Hospital in Middlebury on Oct. 5, 1949, daughter of the late Andrew and Myrna Tremblay.

CATHERINE CLARK

PLATTSBURGH — Catherine Ella Ladeau Clark, 84, of the Vilas Home and formerly of Addison, Vt., passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, under the care of Hospice, due to complications from Parkinson’s.

She was born in Lincoln, Vt., on March 16, 1930, the daughter of William and Louisa (Clark) Ladeau.

Catherine received her education in Lincoln and went back to school and received her high school diploma from Middlebury Union High School in 1988.

MARY SULLIVAN

VERGENNES — Mary Dorothy Caliando Sullivan died peacefully, Oct. 8, 2014, a day after her 93rd birthday.

She was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Plainville, Conn., the daughter of Joseph and Madeline Girolamo Caliando. She met her husband, Kenneth Sullivan, and they married on June 12, 1943. He brought her back to Vermont to start their family. This was her first experience with no running water and no indoor plumbing.

FAITH ANGIER

MIDDLEBURY — Faith E. (Bingham) Huestis Angier, 91, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home in the Middlebury Commons.

Born in Shoreham July 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Bernice (Delphia) Bingham.  

She graduated from Shoreham High School in 1942. She married Howard I. Huestis on Feb. 19, 1944. He predeceased her in November 1968. She later married Carl J. Angier in July 1976. He also predeceased her.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
