JOSEPH G. SAFFORD

WITHERBEE, N.Y. — Joseph G. Safford, 64, of Witherbee, N.Y., died on Nov. 8, 2013.

He was born April 4, 1949, in Burlington, Vt., the son of Walter Safford and Theresa (Hebert) Safford of Burlington.

SHIRLEY BARTOSIEWICZ

LEICESTER — Shirley A. Bartosiewicz, 67, of Leicester died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was born in Montreal, Canada, on Dec. 29, 1945. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Rollie (Leary) Damant. She was a resident of Leicester for 36 years.

CLOISE R. “FRANK” BASLOW

BRISTOL — Cloise R. “Frank” Baslow, 93, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Helen Porter Nursing Home, Memory Care Unit, in Middlebury.

He was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Bristol, the son of Clyde and Julia (Booska) Baslow. Cloise was a logger for many years and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and friends.

He is predeceased by his wife, Bernice; two sons, Ralph and Frank Baslow; and youngest daughter, Laura Foster.

GERALD G. KEMP JR.

MIDWAY PARK, N.C. — Gerald G. Kemp Jr., 64, of Midway Park, N.C., died peacefully surrounded by his family Nov. 1, 2013.

He was born Jan. 20, 1949, in Middlebury Vt., the son of Gerald and Edith Smith Kemp.

Jerry, a retired Marine, lived in North Carolina and enjoyed traveling to the Grand Tetons photographing animals in the wild. He would work there in the summer months and on his days off he would spend numerous hours waiting for that wolf or bear or moose to photograph.

LINDA RUOTOLO

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Linda Mary Cauchon Ruotolo, 64, went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2013, at 1:59 a.m. surrounded by her loving family and friends. Linda was born in Middlebury, Vt., April 14, 1949, graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1967 and moved to Burlington, N.C., in 1972.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Cauchon of Middlebury, Vt.; Maternal Grandparents, Guy & Ada St. George of Bridport, Vt.; Paternal Grandparents, Ernest and Mary Cauchon of Burlington, Vt..

LORRAINE SEVERY

MIDDLEBURY — Lorraine Bertrand Severy, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, surrounded by the love of her two daughters. Lorraine was born in Whiting on July 14, 1926. She was the daughter of Joseph and Aurora (Boisvenue) Bertrand. She attended schools in Whiting. Lorraine met the love of her life, Charles Severy, while employed at the Middlebury Inn. They were married on Sept. 15, 1951. Lorraine’s greatest joy in life was her family and she created a wonderful life together with them.

BRANDON — George M. Mahoney Jr., 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Brandon, the son of George M. and Leola (Andrus) Mahoney Sr.

He received his early education in Brandon schools and lived in the area all of his life. He was employed in occupations that included truck driver for Merrill Transport, grader operator for the towns of Brandon as well as Poultney, logger with Mitchell Brothers and driver for Carrara’s, a job from which he was forced to retire in 1985 after suffering a stroke.

BRANDON — Carolyn F. Memoe, 74, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 28, 1939, in Rutland, the daughter of Mary and Francis Brown of Brandon. She ?graduated from Brandon High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

CLOISE “FRANK” BASLOW

BRISTOL — Cloise R. “Frank” Baslow, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Memory Care Unit, in Middlebury.

He was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Bristol, the son of Clyde and Julia (Booska) Baslow. He was a logger for many years and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and friends.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
