CHARLES BOARDMAN

CORNWALL — Charles Henry Boardman, 98, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury. Mr. Boardman was born in Middlebury on Nov. 22, 1914. He was the son of Benjamin and Mabel (Vancelette) Boardman.

HAROLD CONANT

SALISBURY — Harold Linwood “Pudge” Conant, 77, of Salisbury died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

He was born in Salisbury on May 8, 1935. He was the son of Harold H. “Joe” and Millicent (Wimett) Conant. He grew up in Salisbury where he received his early education, and graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1953.

MICHELLE MAGOON

FERRISBURGH — Michelle “Shelly” Magoon of Ferrisburgh died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 28, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 19, 1957, to Bill and Erma (Delorme) Malaney. She grew up in South Burlington and graduated from South Burlington High School. Her family says in her early years she loved singing and playing folk music on her acoustic guitars. She occasionally wrote music for special people in her life. She played at weddings, her church and school.

DAVID MORIN

VERGENNES — David Francis Morin, 77, of Vergennes, died late Saturday, Dec. 15, at Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born March 25, 1935, at Mt. Vernon Ward in Newport, the son of Blanche (Lamoureux) and Joseph Morin.

He enlisted in the Marines in March of 1952 and served actively in the Korean War for over a year. He was enlisted for 3 years before switching to the reserves for 5 years.

BLANCHE SANTANIELLO

WILLISTON — Blanche Santaniello (Bianca Rina DeMeo Santaniello) died on Christmas morning at Vermont Respite House. Her daughter Carol, son-in-law Tom Spencer, and much loved grandson, Theodore, were holding her hands when she died. She had been living at the Respite House since mid-October. The later of the two pictures you see was taken Dec. 5, at the VRH. She had three wishes, which were fulfilled, when she realized she was sick: no pain, no shots and never let me skip a meal.

GEORGE RICHARDSON

MIDDLEBURY — George W. Richardson, 87, of Middlebury died Christmas Day in Rutland after a short period of failing health as a result of a fall in his home.

He was born July 23, 1925, in Wolcott, the son of George U. Richardson and Gertrude (Davis) Richardson. He married Jessica May Stone on April 23, 1945.

LILLIAN SEARS

FERRISBURGH —Lillian Catherine Sears, 96, died Monday Dec. 31, 2012, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 26 at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. A full obituary will appear in a later edition of the Addison Independent.

HENRY E. DUFRESNE

BENSON — Henry E. Dufresne, 78, of Benson died Jan. 1, 2013, at his home.

He was born on April 22, 1934, in Waterbury, Conn., the son of Henry Dufresne and Martha Kuhn.

Hank served in the U.S Army. Following his honorable discharge he opened an automobile repair business in South Burlington and Vergennes.

He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing trips, shooting, golf, camping and traveling.

He took pride in his family, his home, his lawn and his garden. He was the happiest when he could help a friend.

ANNE LEWIS

MIDDLEBURY— Anne B. Lewis, 76, of Middlebury died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.

She was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Charles G. and Mary F. (French) Hinkle. She resided in Island Heights, N.J., and Toms River, N.J., for over 40 years before moving to Middlebury in 1993.

PETER ORVIS

BRANDON — Peter Douville Orvis, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his home in Brandon.

He was born in Middlebury on March 5, 1943. He was the son of Wendell and Roseanne (Douville) Orvis. He grew up in Middlebury where he received his early education. He graduated from New Lebanon (N.Y.) High School, class of 1961.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
