ANNIS “ANN” DAVIS

MIDDLEBURY — Annis O. (Bingham) “Ann” Davis, 87, of Middlebury died Sept. 11, 2012.

She was born July 8, 1925, the daughter of Edwin and Bernice (Delphia) Bingham.

THOMAS “NEIL” HUSK

FERRISBURGH — Thomas “Neil” Husk, 82, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at FAHC in Burlington following a tragic tractor accident on the farm.

He was born on June 20, 1930, in Ferrisburgh, the son of Ray and Caroline (Black) Husk.

HELEN NOLEN

BRIDPORT — Helen Ruth Nolen, 99, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born in the Bronx, New York City, on June 8, 1913. She was the daughter of George and Jeanette (Wallace) Schaub. She was a permanent resident of Bridport since 2000, but owned her home there since 1935. In her earlier years she worked as a secretary for the state of New York. She also worked for many years for Helena Rubinstein Cosmetics Corp.

CORA POTTER

BRANDON — Cora Elizabeth Potter, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Ferrisburgh on March 19, 1933. She was the daughter of Charles and Olive (Farnsworth) Potter.

She received her early education in Ferrisburgh schools. She worked farming in her earlier years. She had been a resident of Brandon since 1941. She made her home with the Carey family on Pearl Street and cared for them until their deaths. She attended the Brandon Congregational Church.

MAURICE PAUL PAQUETTE

FERRISBURGH — Maurice Paul Paquette passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 37 years by his side, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Middlebury on Oct. 19, 1956, son of Maurice J. and Mildred (Brown) Paquette.

He married his soul mate, Donna Rheaume, on his 18th birthday, and graduated from Middlebury Union High School the next spring. He was raised as a farmer, and spent the last 17 years working for Allandra Farm in Ferrisburgh. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son.

SHERYL OUELLETTE

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Sheryl Ann (Shepard) Ouellette was born in Middlebury, Vermont, at Porter Hospital on Nov. 5, 1948, to the late Urban Roy Shepard Sr. and Marjorie Lola Buck Shepard. During her youth Sheryl resided in Addison, Vt., with her parents and siblings, Starr (Phillips), Sonia (Holmes), Jolleen Shepard, Crysta (Rainey) and the late Urban Roy Shepard, Jr.

RICHARD BREEN

BRANDON — Richard Hollis Breen, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Dick was born in Burlington on March 5, 1925. He was the son of Paul and Mildred (St. Peter) Breen. He graduated from Jericho High School, class of 1942, where he was class president and salutatorian. He interrupted his college career to enlist in the United States Navy and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. Following his honorable discharge he returned home to Vermont.

RICHARD HOLLIS BREEN

BRANDON — Richard Hollis Breen, 87, of Brandon died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Funeral arrangements are pending at Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

CLINTON JENNINGS

STARKSBORO — Clinton Lawrence Jennings, 89, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Bernadette Laberge’s home in Vergennes.

He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Bolton, the son of Jessie and Alnora Jacques Jennings. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He worked at General Electric and retired after 20 years of service.

His family says he enjoyed fishing, watching the Red Sox and sitting by the campfire with his family.

He was married to Esther Wells for 61 years. She predeceased him in 2005.

HAZEL HARRIET LANDON

BRANDON— Hazel Harriet Landon, 95, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Wintergreen Residential Care in Brandon.

She was born in Brandon on June 26, 1917. She was the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Wisell) Howland. She grew up in Brandon where she received her early education. She was graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1935.

On Dec. 18, 1936 she married Carl James Landon. They made their home in Proctor, and in later years back in Brandon. He predeceased her Dec. 26, 2006.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
