LUCIENNE BORTHWICK

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Lucienne M. Borthwick, 100, of Zephyrhills, Fla., entered heaven peacefully on March 7, 2013. Survived by family and friends.Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes, VT. ◊

RUSSELL BERRY

FAIR HAVEN — Russell Donald Berry, 71, of Fair Haven died June 23, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Barre on Feb. 11, 1942. He was the son of Bertha Berry and Pearly Devenger. His earlier years were spent at Brandon Training School. He later made his home with the Pond family in Brandon for many years. He worked at Rutland Bowlerama for many years, traveling back and forth via bus. He had been a part of the Rooney family of Castleton since 1994. They say he enjoyed smoking his pipe, country music and puzzles.

EDWARD CHARBONNEAU

NORTH FERRISBURGH — Edward George “Big Ed” Charbonneau died on June 25, 2013, at the age of 81.

Born and raised in Vergennes, he was a graduate of the old Vergennes High School at the age of 16. He was the postmaster of Vergennes for many years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service at 55. His family says he had a quick wit and loved a good game of pinochle. His true passion was his family.

WILLIAM LAFOUNTAIN

WHITECOURT, Alberta, Canada — William Waitsfield LaFountain, 86, formerly of Middlebury, Vt., died on June 19, 2013. He suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years.

NORTH FERRISBURGH — Lucille M. Doenges, 63, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Vermont Respite House in Williston after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 1, 1950, in Burlington, the daughter of Alfred and Yvonne (Theoret) Gebo.

WILLIS H. FARNSWORTH

VERGENNES — Willis H. Farnsworth, 80, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, on his 80th birthday.

He was born July 1, 1933, in Waltham, the son of Roy and Eva (Merrill) Farnsworth.

Willis worked at Green Mountain Power in Vergennes and retired after working 37 years as a hydroelectric power plant operator. He was a life member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 300, and served as a contract negotiator.

ELMER CLARK III

FOREST DALE — Elmer Bernard Clark III, 38, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 21, 1975, in Rutland, the son of Monica Euber.

He was raised in Brandon and attended Otter Valley Union High School. He worked as a mechanic and was last employed at Rutland Plywood in Rutland. His family says he liked fishing and working on cars.

SHOREHAM — Vera G. Godfrey, 87, died Thursday June 20, 2013, at her home in Shoreham surrounded by her family.

She was born March 20, 1926, in Piermont, N.H., the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Webster.

Her family says she enjoyed cooking, her cat Buster, flower gardens and watching birds. She was a housekeeper and took care of children.

GUNNISON, Colo. — MariaLúcia Bezerra Dayton “Pizas” Trezise, formerly of Fayston, Vt., and São Paulo, Brazil, died on Feb. 26, 2013, at the home of her son Arthur “Tuco” Trezise in Gunnison, Colo., where she had relocated in October to be close his family.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
