Joyce LeBeau-Adams

VERGENNES — Joyce LeBeau-Adams, 74, of Vergennes died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1936, in Vergennes and was the daughter of Florence and Leonard LeBeau.
A memorial service will be held at the Brown-McClay Funeral home in Vergennes on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. There will be no calling hours.
She was a Vergennes High School graduate and attended technical schools, working as an electronic technician in Boston and in Vergennes for B.F. Goodrich.

Bettey Sullivan

TULLY, N.Y. — Mrs. Bettey R. Sullivan, 79, of Tully, N.Y., died while visiting family in Vermont on Thursday evening, Oct. 28, 2010, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, Vt.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Lafayette Alliance Church. The Rev. Rob Gates officiated.
Burial will be at a later date in Vermont.
She was born March 14, 1931, in Mineville, the daughter of Francis and Catherine (Cyr) Barnes.

Mary Tamboer

BRANDON — Mary B. Tamboer, 88, of Brandon died at her home on Nov. 4, 2010.
She was born in Dundee, Scotland, the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Latto) Brown.
She was a resident of Brandon since 1977, having come from Patterson, N.J. Her family says she was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed raising her children, reading novels, and living in Vermont.
Survivors include three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; a son, Charles Jr.; and daughter, Nancy Dunlap.

Ellen Elizabeth Zern

MIDDLEBURY — Ellen Elizabeth (Sears) Zern, 79, of Middlebury died Nov. 4, 2010, after a brief struggle with cancer.
A private service will be held celebrating her life.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1931, one of eight children born to Florence (Thompson) and William Sears. She grew up in Middlebury and graduated from Middlebury High School.
She married Lawrence W. Zern.

Robert Champine

VERGENNES — Robert “Bob” Champine, 79, of Vergennes, died Oct. 28, 2010, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 3, 1931, the son of Irving “Bud” Champine and Nora “Pete” Champine-Forester, both deceased.

Richard East

SANFORD, Maine — Richard C. East, 88, of Sanford, Maine, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Greenwood Center in Sanford.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Nov. 1, at the Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, Mass.
Richard was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on Oct. 17, 1922, and attended local schools. As a young man he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 20 years. In 1948 he married Eleanor Fortier and together they raised two children.

Florence "Flossie" Eaton

BURLINGTON — Florence (Wade) “Flossie” Eaton, 92, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 at the Converse Home in Burlington.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, in All Saints Episcopal Church in South Burlington.
She was born in East Dorset on Dec. 28, 1917, the daughter of Lawrence and Elida (Ames) Wade.
She graduated form Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester, class of 1935. She graduated cum laude in 1940 from the University of Vermont with a bachelor of science degree in education. She taught school for 36 years.
She married Fredric Eaton on July 23, 1955.

Douglas Everest

NEW HAVEN — Douglas A. Everest, 95, died peacefully in his sleep at the Porter Hospital in Middlebury surrounded by his family on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010.
Douglas, the son of Charles and Clara (Hawkins) Everest, was born on June 2, 1915, in New Haven.
He graduated from Beeman Academy in New Haven in 1933 and Green Mountain College in Poultney in 1938. In 1943, he married Mae Grant, a schoolteacher from Lincoln. Douglas was the postmaster of New Haven for 28 years.
Douglas was a devoted husband and loving father who will be greatly missed by his family.

Abraham Goyette

CROWN POINT, N.Y. — Abraham Audice Goyette of Crown Point, N.Y., died Nov. 1, 2010.
He graduated from Beeman Academy in New Haven, Vt., in 1953. He took a course from the University of Vermont in auto repair. He took night classes at Middlebury College and Johnson State College and earned his associate’s and bachelor’s degrees to become a teacher. He taught for one year at Job Corps; his family says he liked the students but didn’t like to be “cooped up.”
He worked as a deputy sheriff in Pima County, Ariz.

Dorothy Ann Johnson

MIDDLEBURY — Dorothy Ann Johnson, 93, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.
The graveside committal service and burial will take place on Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in the family lot at Tinmouth Cemetery in Tinmouth. Gary Stanley, a family friend, will officiate.
There are no public calling hours.
She was born in Rotterdam, N.Y., on July 29, 1917. She was the daughter of Herold and Amalia (Rissland) Gale. She graduated from Schenectady (N.Y.) High School.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
