Dervisa Sujic

MIDDLEBURY — Dervisa Sujic, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at her home in Middlebury.

She was born in Hrnjici, Bosnia, on July 31, 1925. She was the daughter of Ahmet and Munifa (Blazevic) Hrnic.

She came to the United States with her family 12 years ago and Middlebury became her new home.

Surviving are two daughters, Fikreta Hadzic and Snezana Sujic, both of Middlebury; two sons, Eniz Sujic of Middlebury and Fikret Sujic of Munich, Germany; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frank Critchett, Sr.

SALISBURY — Frank E. Critchett Sr., 60, of Salisbury (Lake Dunmore) and Seymour, Conn., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010. He was the husband of Mary Abate Critchett.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., on May 15, 1950, he was the son of the late George W. and Esther Candee Sr. and Edwin M. Critchett.

Patricia Stehmeyer

ADDISON — Patricia Ann Stehmeyer, 52, most recently of South Hero, died at her parents’ home in Addison on Oct. 6, 2010, after a long illness.

She was born in Ridgewood, N.J., on July 12, 1958. She received her R.N. degree from Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., and dedicated many years to working as a nurse and as a member of South Hero’s rescue squad.

Barbara Brown Barnett

MIDDLEBURY — Barbara Brown Barnett, 96, died on Oct. 8, 2010, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, surrounded by her loving family, both in person and in spirit, and her wonderfully attentive caregivers.

Dwight E. Burnham Jr.

ADDISON — Dwight E. Burnham Jr., 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at his home in Addison, surrounded by his children and their families.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, at West Addison United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Addison.

He was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Bloomfield, Conn., the son of Dwight and Bernice Snyder Burnham Sr.

Dwight served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Agnes Veach Brooks

BALTIMORE, Md. — Agnes Veach “San” Brooks, 81, died peacefully at her home in Baltimore on Oct. 8, 2010, surrounded by her family. The cause of death was complications following a long illness with lung cancer.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon at the Ripton Town Hall in Ripton, Vt. A private burial service will follow.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the second of four daughters born to Lucille and Thomas Veach.

Lawrence Fusco

BRANDON — Lawrence “Lary” Joseph Fusco, 63, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Friends may call at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 from 6-8 p.m.

Lary was born in Rutland on April 27, 1947. He was the son of Arvido and Gladys (Vladyka) Fusco. He grew up in Rutland and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy, class of 1965.
He received a degree in business administration from Syracuse University, class of 1969.

Stephen Holdman

MIDDLEBURY — Stephen Joseph Holdman, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at his home in Middlebury.

The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at Farmingdale Veterans Cemetery, Seeley District, in Middlebury. The Rev. Gary Lewis, pastor of the Vergennes Congregational Church, will officiate.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., on Dec. 28, 1951. He was the son of William and Jean (Ellis) Holdman Jr.

Sylvia Menard

BRISTOL — Sylvia M. Menard, 78, of Bristol died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Friday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Essex Junction, the daughter of Robert and Sylvia Ploof Carter.
She was a member of Bristol Rescue Squad and St. Ambrose Church in Bristol.

Carol Langabacher

SUDBURY — Carol Ann Langabacher Rich, 72, of Sudbury died suddenly Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, in Burlington.

There will be no calling hours.

She was born in Rochester, N.Y.

She was a doll maker and owned two consignment shops: Small Change in Middlebury and Bears Repeating in Fair Haven.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Winner of Gasport, N.Y.; her cousin, Agnes Coon of Rochester, N.Y.; her husband, Fredrick H. Rich; and two daughters, Dawn T. Rich of Middlebury and Krista M. Rich of Somerville, Mass.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
