RICHARD HOLLIS BREEN

BRANDON — Richard Hollis Breen, 87, of Brandon died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Funeral arrangements are pending at Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

CLINTON JENNINGS

STARKSBORO — Clinton Lawrence Jennings, 89, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Bernadette Laberge’s home in Vergennes.

He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Bolton, the son of Jessie and Alnora Jacques Jennings. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He worked at General Electric and retired after 20 years of service.

His family says he enjoyed fishing, watching the Red Sox and sitting by the campfire with his family.

He was married to Esther Wells for 61 years. She predeceased him in 2005.

HAZEL HARRIET LANDON

BRANDON— Hazel Harriet Landon, 95, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Wintergreen Residential Care in Brandon.

She was born in Brandon on June 26, 1917. She was the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Wisell) Howland. She grew up in Brandon where she received her early education. She was graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1935.

On Dec. 18, 1936 she married Carl James Landon. They made their home in Proctor, and in later years back in Brandon. He predeceased her Dec. 26, 2006.

BETTY R. LEUTHOLD

LINCOLN — Betty R. Leuthold, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Lincoln.

She was born March 21, 1922, in New York City, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude (Kerwin) Carroll.

She is survived her daughters, Linda and Stephen Revell, and Alice and Ray Ramsburg of Florida; a son, Dale and Susan Leuthold of Maryland; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Walt and Elanor Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.

VIRGINIA BREWER FOLINO

MIDDLEBURY — Virginia “Bobo” Folino, age 85, passed away on Sept. 1 at the Lodge at Otter Creek in Middlebury, Vermont. Born and raised in Waterville, Maine, Virginia Rae Brewer was the youngest of four daughters born to Ora and Bessie Brewer. As a little girl, she was unable to pronounce her last name Brewer and called herself Ginny Bobo, which was shortened to just Bobo.

RUDOLPH SANTO

BRANDON— Rudolph Santo, 89, of Brandon died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on May 8, 1923. He was the son of Carmelo and Vincenza (DeLuca) Santo. He grew up in New York City where he received his education. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army in the European Theater. Among his military awards was the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

WEST ADDISON — Marjorie Ellen Smith, 93, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Ringer Home Care in Vergennes.

She was born July 18, 1919, in West Addison, the daughter of George and Pluma (Trudo) Mulliss.

REMO J. GOBBI

EUSTIS, Fla. — Remo J. Gobbi, 90, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Vergennes, Vt., died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 29, at home while surrounded by his family.

He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Quanara, Italy, and graduated from St. Edmonds High School in Swanton, Vt., in 1939. He was married Feb. 4, 1952, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes.

THOMAS P. BLISS

SOUTH BARRE — Thomas Patrick Bliss, 44, of South Barre died Aug. 22, 2012, in the Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine, from work-related injuries suffered five weeks before.

Born Dec. 27, 1967, in Bennington, he was the son of Steven and Marilyn (Brow) Bliss. He attended Arlington schools and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1987. He later graduated from East Coast Aero Tech School in Maynard, Mass., and a truck driving school.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
