John Kerr

FOREST DALE — John Thomas Kerr, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at his home in Forest Dale.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at St. Mary’s Church in Brandon, with Father Albert “Skip” Baltz officiating. Burial with military honors followed the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Following the graveside services a reception was held at American Legion Post 55 in Brandon.

Mary Anne Kevra

LINCOLN — Mary Anne Kevra died Dec.1 at home in Lincoln, surrounded by loved ones, her room filled with music.
Born on Oct. 15, 1933, she was the daughter of Elias and Jeannette Janho, who immigrated to the US from the Middle East in the 1920s. Mary Anne learned from them lessons about hard work, integrity and community, growing up on a farm in Somerset, N.J.
She graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1951 and was employed as a secretary at Westinghouse where she met Raymond Kevra, whom she married in 1955.

Dwight Wildermuth

RICHMOND, N.H. — Dwight A. Wildermuth, 60, of Richmond died Tuesday evening, Nov. 23, at his home following a period of failing health.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Sturtevant Chapel in Keene. Burial took place at the Foote Street Cemetery in Middlebury, Vt., on Sunday, Dec. 5.
He was born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., Sept. 30, 1950, the son of Albert Clark and Alva (Anson) Wildermuth.
He graduated from the South Glens Falls (N.Y.) High School, class of 1968, and attended SUNY Canton prior to attending Seaway Bible Institute in Canada.

Ruberta Phylis Russell

HINESBURG — Ruberta Phyllis Eddy Russell died peacefully at her home on Dec. 1, 2010.
Visiting hours were Friday, Dec. 3, at the Osborne Parish House. A celebration of Phyllis’ life was held Saturday, Dec. 4, at the United Church of Hinesburg. A family burial preceded the funeral.
Phyllis was born in Monkton on Aug. 12, 1918. Her family moved to Hinesburg when she was a toddler, living in the village for a few years, then moving to “Valley View” farm on Charlotte Road.

Charlotte Tatro

FERRISBURGH — Charlotte Ellen (Cormier) Tatro died at her home in Ferrisburgh on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Visiting hours were held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was at Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh.
Born April 13, 1917, in Bristol Flats, she was the second child of Leon and Jennie (Martin) Cormier.
In 1933, she graduated with honors from Bristol High School at the age of 16. Two years later, she graduated from Burlington Business College, now known as Champlain College.

Ron Van Nostrand

SALISBURY — Ron Van Nostrand, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at his home on Lake Dunmore, Salisbury.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion Hall on Boardman Street in Middlebury on Jan. 18 (his birthday), 2011, at 2 p.m.
He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on Jan. 18, 1935, to Edwin and Teresa Van Nostrand.

Elaine Farrell

MIDDLEBURY — Elaine Marie Farrell, 82, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at her home in Middlebury.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. The Rev. William Beaudin, pastor, will be the celebrant. A graveside committal service and burial will take place in the family lot, at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Farrell was born in Shoreham on May 14, 1928. She was the daughter of Allan and Evelyn (Cannon) Drolette. She grew up in Cornwall close to her grandparents’ family farm.

Genevieve Grindlay

BRANDON — Genevieve Julia Grindlay, 91, of Brandon died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
She was born in Jersey City, N.J. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Switek. She grew up in Millburn, N.J., where she received her education in local schools.
In 1940 she married John Robert Grindlay. They made their home in Westfield, N.J. He died in 2001.
She moved to Vermont in 2007 from her retirement home in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Her family says she enjoyed cooking and oil painting.

Dwight Wildermuth

Celia Field

NASHUA, N.H. — Celia W Field, former longtime resident of Bridport and Danville, Vt., died Sunday, Nov. 28, in Nashua.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at the family plot in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes, Vt., on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m.

She was born in Halifax, Vt., on Jan. 29, 1928, to Clayton A. and Mary E. (Bowen) Woodard.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
