Laurie A. Humiston Raymond death notice

FERRISBURGH — Laurie A. Humiston Raymond passed away unexpectedly Aug. 26, 2018, at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. There will be no calling hours per Laurie’s request. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the American Legion in Vergennes. All are welcome to join family and friends.

Mignonne "Peggy" Mayer St. George

BRIDPORT — Peggy St. George, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018,  at home after suffering a stroke.

She was born February 24, 1925, in Casselman, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Edmund and Ellie-Anna (Bourbonnais) Mayer.

Peggy married Kenneth Guy St. George on April 26, 1943, at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Bridport. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage, living their entire life together in Bridport.

Marjorie Lee Hoefle

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie Lee Hoefle, 87, passed away Aug. 22, 2018, at her residence in Middlebury. She was born Sept. 25, 1930, in North Andover, Mass., the daughter of Dr. Frank and Marjorie (Glennie) Lee.

Richard A. Haver

SHOREHAM — Richard (Rick) A. Haver, 70, died at home in Shoreham on Aug. 23, 2018. Near the end he was lovingly cared for by his former wife Susan J. Edsall of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and his dear friend and nurse Hilary Hatch of Leicester, Vt.

John Henry Grant

 

EAST MIDDLEBURY — John Henry Grant, 68, lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 21, 2018, with family at his side.

He was born in Middlebury to Edward Grant and Helen Faivre on Aug. 20, 1950. After attending local schools, he started his career as a lineman working with FA Tucker. John married Gail Malzac on July 6, 1974 and they had their only child in 1976. The following year John took a job with Contel (Waitsfield Telecom) where he continued to work for over 25 years.

Mignonne Emma St. George memorial service

BRIDPORT — Mignonne “Peggy” Emma “Mayer” St. George of Bridport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, after suffering a stroke days before. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, 11 a.m., at St. Bernadette’s Church in Bridport. See Monday’s Addison Independent for a full obituary.

John Michael Nunez

BOMOSEEN — John Michael Nunez, 47, of Bomoseen, died Aug. 16, 2018, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Nunez was born Oct. 30, 1970, on Grand Turk in the British West Indies. He grew up on or around Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, Vt., where he spent countless hours boating, fishing and water skiing.

He graduated from the Middlebury High School.

John could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He saw value in things that others saw as ruin. He worked most of his life in construction, and owned his own business, NHI Construction.

William (Bill) Mandigo

MIDDLEBURY — William (Bill) Mandigo peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Aug. 16, 2018, in Middlebury, Vt.

Bill, age 81, was born in Woonsocket, R.I. to Ellen (née Thistle) and Willie A. Mandigo. After his father passed away, his mother married Earl Whipple, who lovingly raised Bill as his own son.

Gisele Marie (Vanier) Litch

ADDISON — Gisele Marie (Vanier) Litch, 78, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Moose Creek, Ontario, Canada on Oct. 26, 1939, to the late Albert and Simone (Racine) Vanier, she moved to the U.S. in 1948 and married the love of her life, James Litch, Sept. 7, 1957. James predeceased her Jan. 18, 2008.

Joan G. Kelton

MIDDLEBURY — Joan G. Kelton, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018.

She was born in Hanover, N.H. on Sept. 19, 1934, the daughter of Ernest and Virginia Grenon.

Joan graduated from Hartford High School, class of 1953. She then worked for the New England Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, Raymond “Bud” Kelton. They married in June of 1958 and moved to Middlebury in 1963, where they raised their six children.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
