THOMAS WARNER

Raymond, N.H./Ferrisburgh, Vt.— Thomas A. Warner, 59, died Oct. 15, 2015, at his home in Raymond, N.H., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 2, 1956, in Ferrisburgh, Vt., son of the late George Warner Sr. and Anna (Caputo) Warner.

LESLIE ‘BUDDIE’ CHURCHILL

WESTFIELD — Mr. Leslie A. “Buddie” Churchill, age 80, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at the Newport Health and Rehab Center. He was born in St. Albans, Oct. 30, 1934, son of the late Allen and Irene (Patnode) Churchill. He spent his life as a caregiver for people in their homes.

Leslie is survived by his sister, Marion Pilon of Burlington; his nephew, Theodore Pilon Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y.; his niece Karen Wallis of Waynesboro, Va.; his great-nephews Casey and Brett Wallis, and Kris and Lance Perlee of Bristol; and other family members.

VIRGINIA HALSTEAD

NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. — Virginia Carpenter Halstead of North Branford and formerly of Guilford, Conn., died on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the age of 93, with loving family at her side. Ginnie’s beloved husband, Gordon, predeceased her just six months ago in April. They were married for over 68 years.

BRIDPORT — A memorial service for Kenneth Estey will be held at the Bridport Congregational Church on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow in the vestry.

Directions: From Route 22A take Middle Road in Bridport. The church is red brick on the right near the cemetery.

RICHARD FINKE

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Richard Anton Finke, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Zephyrhills, Fla., on Oct. 6. He was born on Sept. 29, 1923, in Pittsfield, Mass. He lived in Orwell, Vt., for many years and spent every summer in West Addison.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his daughter, Karri L. Bean; son-in-law Lewis C. Bean; granddaughters Taylor Lahs and Sydney Bean of Valencia, Calif.; one grandson, Sean Christopher Doane of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of The Brotherhood of Masons. ◊

BARBARA FLETCHER

ORANGE CITY, Fla. — Barbara Fletcher of Orange City, Fla., and Middlebury, Vt., died Oct. 10, 2015.

Barbara was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Middlebury, Vt., to Dr. Raymond and Eva Goss. Barbara attended local schools and graduated from Middlebury High School. Barbara went on to get her bachelors in physical therapy from Boston University.

HAROLD MORCOMBE

OCALA, Fla. — Harold Cole Morcombe, age 84, passed away on Oct. 7, 2015.

He was born July 10, 1931, in Vergennes, Vt. He was the son of the late John and Pearl (Cole) Morcombe. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Ocala, Fla., and sister Patricia Pratt of Bridport, Vt.

Harold and first wife Josephine (now deceased) are survived by three children, Harold W. and wife JoAnn of Sanford, N.C., Steve and wife Deb of Sun City West, Ariz., and Pearl Gale and husband Tony of Rutland, Vt. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

PATTI ROMP

SALISBURY — Patti Romp, age 59, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, after a yearlong, courageous fight with cancer. Born in Atlantic City, N.J., March 22, 1956, she was the daughter of Thomas and Rita (Devine) Gilmartin. She graduated from Lower Cape May Regional HS, class of 1974, and attended Thomas Jefferson University, 1974-1975. She moved to Vermont in 1975 and married Billy Romp of Troy, N.Y., in 1987.

BARRY RUMBLE

VERGENNES — Barry Lynn Rumble passed away on Oct. 10, 2015, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, with his loving daughter by his side. Barry was born on Aug. 19, 1946, in Port Leyden, N.Y., to Noel and Bernice Rumble. He is survived by his brother Eric Rumble and sister-in-law, Michelle Rumble; his four children, Heidi, Hans, Heath and Harrison; his former spouses Peg Seck and Jill Delaney; his two grandsons Cyron and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Rumble LaClair; and brother Neil Rumble.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
