BRADLEY MULLIN

ADDISON — Bradley S. Mullin, 56, of Addison passed away on June 3, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.

Brad was born in New Haven, Conn., on May 3, 1960, to Keith and Patricia Mullin. Brad grew up in Connecticut with his two sisters, Pamela and Bonnie. Brad was married to Cara (Nichols) Mullin on Sept. 16, 1995, in North Haven, Conn. They moved to Addison, Vt., in September 2000 and made their home there ever since. They had three children, Scott, Matthew and Ava, and were married for 20 years.

BRYAN ASHLEY-SELLECK SR.

CASTLETON— Bryan R. Ashley-Selleck Sr., 48, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at his home in Castleton.

He was born May 2, 1968, in Middlebury, the son of Roy and predeceased Holly (Provencher) Ashley Sr.

CORREAN CUSHMAN

MIDDLEBURY — Correan Walker Cushman, 94 years old, of Middlebury, Vermont, daughter of Dr. Dora Walker and Dr. Thomas Walker, passed away on May 26, 2016.

Born in Great Falls, Mont., on Dec. 30, 1921, she graduated from Northwestern University in 1943, where she met her future husband, Robert V. Cushman. They had three daughters together. They lived in Louisville, Ky., for 16 years where she was the manager of Stevenson’s Bookstore.

EDWARD CYR

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. — Edward Charles Cyr, 69, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and formerly of Shelburne, Vt., died on May 9, 2016, at McCleod Hospital in Florence, S.C., after a long illness.

He was born on April 3, 1947, in New Haven, Vt., to Andrew and Helen (Hagan) Cyr. Ed was a dedicated public servant. He served a total of 10 years between the Air Guard and Army Reserve. Early on, he served on Bristol Rescue.

MADELINE DENIS

WHITING — Madeline Grace Denis, age 92, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

Mrs. Denis was born in Mendon on July 17, 1923. She was the daughter of Archie and Grace (Johnson) McCarty. She grew up on the family farm in Mendon. She received her education in Rutland schools and graduated from Rutland High School, class of 1941. Following graduation she worked at a local area department store.

BRANDON — Janice Flanders Rougier Ryan, born in Fletcher on Nov. 23, 1929, passed away peacefully at her home in Brandon on May 24, 2016.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Clarence Rougier and William “Bill” Ryan, and sons Clarence Jr. and Eugene Rougier.

LAVONNE ‘BONNIE’ SOLOMON

LINCOLN — LaVonne “Bonnie” B. Solomon, age 93, of Lincoln, Vt., died Friday, May 27, 2016, at her son’s home. Mrs. Solomon was born Feb. 12, 1923, in New York City, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Coy E. and Gladys (Natusch) Bonner. In addition to her parents LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Howard R. Solomon, in 1984; and her two brothers, Coy Bonner and wife Sue, and Dwayne Bonner and wife Barbara, both of Indiana.

EARL JACKSON

VERGENNES — Earl R. Jackson, 80 years old, of Vergennes passed away on May 25, 2016, at his home.

Earl was a very independent, strong man. He always had a quick wave and smile, especially to the neighbors Sherri, Robbie.

In his working years, Earl was the “best diesel mechanic” in Addison County (his words) for the 40 years he worked at Devine’s Sales and Service in Ferrisburgh with his brother Dave. Since retiring you could find him puttering on projects around the house. He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed challenges.

JORDAN CHANDLER

CASTLETON — Jordan Michael Chandler, 2, died Friday evening, May 20, 2016, at Porter Medical Center after lengthy medical issues.

He was born Jan. 8, 2014, the son of Richard L. Chandler and Sabrina Gero.

He is survived by his mother of Castleton, his father of Pawlet, his brother Brayden Byran, grandparents Tonya Lamb of Castleton and Eric Gero of Cornwall, and his uncles, Devin Gero and Dylan Murphy.

LINCOLN — Emma Mae (Chatfield) Fleck, 86, of Quaker Street passed away quietly on Sunday, May 22. Born in South Lincoln, she was the daughter of Daniel Lewis Chatfield and Carrie Annice Pierce. She graduated from Bristol High School and the University of Vermont.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
