HOWARD EDWARD GRIMES

LINCOLN — Howard Edward Grimes, 92, of Lincoln, Vermont went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. He was surrounded by family and friends, laughing and telling personal memories with each one.

Howard was born in Bristol on July 11, 1924, to Ray and Flora Grimes. He was the oldest of four boys. He loved gardening, farming, the outdoors and being with family and friends. He enjoyed anything he could do with the people he loved — barbeques, church events, hiking, canoeing, and vacationing.

PETER AMOS GALLANT

PERU, Mass. — Peter Amos Gallant (Redfox), 72, of Peru, Mass., died unexpectedly at his home March 9, 2017. He was born on June 13, 1944 in Washington, Mass. to Joseph Edward and Arlene Frances Gallant. He attended schools in Washington and Dalton, Mass.

Pete joined the United States Marine Corps on June 16, 1961 and served until 1965. He was a member of the Tactics Rifle Squad. He was very proud of his time spent in the Marines.

MARJORIE ELIZABETH EDGERTON

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie Elizabeth (Roucoulet) Edgerton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died at her home in Middlebury on April 15, 2017, with family members at her bedside. Marge was born in Rutland, Vermont, on December 19, 1925, the 11th of 16 children of Anna Lillian (Bellany) and Louis Roucoulet.  Only one sister survives her.

BILLY JOE WEDGE

BRANDON — Billy Joe Wedge, age 40, died unexpectedly Friday, April 7, 2017, at his home in Brandon.

Mr. Wedge was born in Middlebury on February 28, 1977. He was the son of Donald and Donna (Grace) Wedge. He grew up in Bristol, where he received his early education and had attended Mount Abraham Union High School.

He had worked at Carrara & Sons in Middlebury. He most recently worked as an equipment operator for D & F Excavating and Paving.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his family.

KENNETH C. LAROSE

MIDDLEBURY — Kenneth C. LaRose, 53, passed away on April 8, 2017. Kenny was born on July 13, 1963 to Wayne and Dorothy (Murray) LaRose of Bristol. He is survived by his two brothers, Donald LaRose and Ralph LaRose, and his sister Lola Callicoat. He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn LaRose.

Kenny brought a lot of joy to many people. Words that will always remind family of Kenny are cowboy hats, fire trucks with the siren on and parades. A special thank you to all the family at Seminary Street.◊

ROBERT J. JAMESON

ESSEX JUNCTION — Robert (Bob) J. Jameson, 77, of South Starksboro/Essex Jct., passed away on April 1, 2017, from complications of COPD. He was born on July 15, 1939, in Wallingford, the son of William and Beatrice (Clark) Jameson. Bob had worked for Pike Industries and Breadloaf Construction (retired). He currently was living in Essex Jct.

RUTH CONKLIN HUMMEL

BRISTOL — Ruth Hummel, 101, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Anthony Myrick’s Community Care Home in Bristol, attended by her daughter Sylvia and son Karl.

Ruth grew up a few blocks from the ocean in the Episcopal Rectory in Asbury Park, N.J. Her father, Randall Conklin, was the kindly and beloved Episcopal Minister and along with his musically talented wife, Harriet, raised Ruth and her siblings, Harriet, Randall, and Walt, in a house that was full of laughter and a very strong feeling of family.

JENNIFER BRUCH

BRIDPORT — Jennifer Bruch, 62, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at her home in Bridport, Vt.

She was born August 17, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Sally Bruch. She married Bryan St. John Schofield in Storrs, Conn., in 1976. She was a lifelong dancer, gifted teacher, and beloved friend, sister and mother.

She is survived by her mother and father, five siblings and her children, Lilly and Whitman.

JOYCE H. TANNER

BRISTOL — Joyce H. (Copeland) Tanner passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Helen Porter Hospital nursing facility on April 6, 2017. Joyce was the daughter of Walter Copeland and Inez (Potter) Copeland of Plainfield.

Joyce graduated from Plainfield high school and then pursued a nursing career at East Montpelier Hospital, and later worked at the Degoesbriand unit in Burlington, where she meet her future husband Lawrence E. Tanner from Bakersfield.

DIANE TATRO SEYMOUR

FERRISBURGH — On the evening of April 5, Diane Marie Tatro Seymour looked to the hills from whence came her help.  Born on June 12, 1954 to Lester Tatro and Charlotte Cormier Tatro,Diane was one of seven children. Raised in Ferrisburgh, she attended Ferrisburgh Elementary School and Vergennes Union High School where she graduated in 1972.

In October of the same year she married Barry Oliver Seymour of New Rochelle, N.Y. The couple settled in Hollis, NY where they raised their two children Charlotte Seymour Windom and Barrett Seymour.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
