CYNTHIA JIMMO

BRISTOL — Cynthia A. Jimmo, 57, passed away Feb. 3 at home with her husband by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 25, 1957, in Hardwick.

She was employed by the state of Vermont for 27 years. On May 4, 2002, ,she married her soul mate, Dan Jimmo.

Cindy was a wonderful person and enjoyed playing games and cards, and was very fond of gatherings, especially at her in-laws’ Robert and Saundria Jimmo of Lincoln, where she was often the life of the party.

LEONORA 'LEE' KNICKERBOCKER

CLINTON, N.Y. — Leonora J. “Lee” Rajewski Knickerbocker of Clinton, N.Y., formerly of Middlebury, Vt., a retired employee of the A&P in Middlebury, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at the LutheranCare Community, Clinton, N.Y. She was 84.

The daughter of the late Konstanty and Josephine Hayduk Rajewski, she was born June 11, 1930, in Linden, N.J.

LILLIAN LALUMIERE

VERGENNES — Lillian G. Lalumiere died peacefully at her home with family on Feb. 10, 2015.

Lillian was born on March 27, 1917, the fifth child of Mary Ellen Coyne Sears and Lewis Oliver Sears, at their home in Ferrisburgh. She attended the Gage one-room schoolhouse in Ferrisburgh, completing the ninth grade.

WAYNE REEVES

MIDDLEBURY — Wayne H. Reeves, 83, a longtime resident, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Saugus, Mass., Nov. 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Bertha (Elmer) Gregory. 

He moved here in 1961 from Springfield, Vt.

Wayne was a graduate of Sunapee High School, Sunapee, N.H., and a graduate of Vermont Police Academy, and had his private pilot license.

RITA SANDERS

WEST HARTFORD, Conn./WHITING, Vt. — Rita A. Sanders, 79, of West Hartford, Conn., formerly of Whiting, Vt., died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the widow of Morris E. “Sandy” Sanders.

MIDDLEBURY — Stephen H.A. Webb died Feb. 5, 2015, at the age of 85, surrounded by family in Middlebury after declining health. Stephen was born Feb. 20, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Smith Robbins Webb and Jessie Ackerman Webb.

LYNN BERTRAND

ORWELL — Lynn Bertrand, 67, of Orwell died Wednesday evening, Feb. 4, 2015, at his residence surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Orwell. Burial will be at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.

JEAN BRIGGS

VERGENNES — Jean L. Briggs of Vergennes passed away at Porter Medical Center on Feb. 3, 2015, after a short illness.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1928, with her twin brother to John LeBeau and Samantha (Brown) LeBeau in Vergennes.

She retired from B.F. Goodrich/Simmonds Precision after 33 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Celtics fan through good times and bad and was thrilled to see a live Celtics game at the Fleet Center at age 74.

ARTHUR DUFRESNE

BROWN’S CORNERS, N.Y. — Arthur Napoleon Dufresne, 86, of Brown’s Corners died at the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., after being stricken at home.

He was born March 4, 1928, the son of Flora and Leo Dufresne in Hinesburg, Vt.

He married his first wife Blanche Paquette in 1948. Their marriage ended in divorce. He then married his current wife Carol E. Radley in 1996. He farmed most of his life in Cornwall, Vt., and Potsdam, N.Y., and for a short time in Alaska. He also owned and operated a pool and snowmobile sales and service business.

JANICE FENN

MIDDLEBURY — Janice A. Fenn, 69, of Middlebury died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following a period of failing health. She was the wife of Douglas C. Fenn of Middlebury.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. No funeral service is planned at this time.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
