What Happened To Field Days!
What ever happened to the field days as i remember it? Since when do they make a 5 year old have a braclet? Children that don't have to pay a fee to get in should be allowed on the rides for free as well. Also, what ever happened to the organization? The derby wasn't that good, there wasn't wnough rides, and the games i used to play were no longer there. I was not impressed this year when i attended field days. In fact I was quite disappointed.

Field Days
If you're only going to Field Days for the games and rides, it's a shame. I take our kids to the fair and we don't even go near the rides. We go to see the young people show their cattle, sheep and goats. Some folks like the horse shows as well. We thought the demo derbies were great! The truck and tractor pulls were terrific as well. The many choices you have to do and see when you go to that fair are incredible. It is by far the best fair I've been to. The antiques, the arm wrestling, the hypnosis, the 4H building, the creemies, the maple barn.....You could spend half a day totally mesmerized just watching the 4Her's work with their trained steers. Did you ever stop and talk to one of the kids in the beef barn? Ask them some questions? They know more about those animals than you would believe. And to see them in the show ring is awesome. Whoever is in charge at Field Days is doing a wonderful job! Please keep it up!! Thanks for another great time at the fair!!
Addison County Fair and Field Days
I understand that this year was incredibly muddy, and so maybe that's why all of the (4? Maybe 5?) rides were complete crap. I remember seeing things like the Kamikaze, Gravitron, Cyclone, and either the Dream Weaver or Dream Catcher (I can't remember) a few years back...They don't even have Bumper Cars now ...and they haven't for a while. Very disappointing.
The Zipper was the only somewhat interesting ride I saw, but there are only so many times you can go on that (tragically common) thing without getting bored.
I think the organizers ought to be a little more honest and call the whole ordeal "Redneck Fest" or "Blow Your Money on Chintzy, Overpriced Junk Days." Or even just ditching the word "Fair" from the current title would suffice.
I'd like to have a small scale, yet somewhat decent fair really close to home, but oh well. Guess I'm going to have to move on to the Champlain Valley Fair. Blech.
Addison County Fair
As a Demploition derby entrant for the past several years i Must comment and say whats going on? The fair should rethink who runs one of there bigest draws, when I started the derby seven years ago it was alot more fun and went on all night, Thursday was a joke, 4-6 cars in ONE heat, what happened to 15 cars at once? I know, the drivers hate the people who run the show so they are not signing up, GET A NEW GROUP TO RUN THE DERBY!! maybe then you will see more cars and more drivers!!
