New Haven woman cited in theft of scrap metal

NEW HAVEN — Vermont State Police arrested Stepfanie Williams, 20, of New Haven on the charge of grand larceny for allegedly stealing $12,000-$13,500 worth of metal from a local residence on April 15.

Police allege Williams took the metal to an area scrap yard and sold it for a small fraction of the actual value of the material, according to police.

Williams was also cited for violations of the conditions of her release. Additional charges could be forthcoming in the case, according to police, who added the scrap metal will be returned to the property owner.
