Addison woman cited in burglary spree

NEW HAVEN — Vermont State Police on Thursday cited Nicole Burgos, 29, of Addison for felony possession of stolen property, a charge they said in a press release “is relative to the wave of 2013 Addison County burglaries that subsequently led to the July 31 arrest of Burgos’ domestic partner, Raymond R. Ritchie.”

Arts council honors achievements of four Vermonters

BRANDON — Internationally renowned folk artist Warren Kimble and famed novelist/poet/biographer Jay Parini were among four people honored at the annual Vermont Council of the Arts Annual Gala held this past Tuesday night at the Brandon Town Hall. Bruce Bouchard, who joined the Paramount Theater as executive director in 2008, and Carol Driscoll, executive director of The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in West Rutland, received honors for “meritorious service to the arts.”

Vintage Airstream trailers on display in Salisbury

SALISBURY — Eighteen, mostly vintage, Airstream trailers will be opening their doors to visitors at Branbury State Park in Salisbury on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 2-4 p.m. On display on sites 1 through 17 will be trailers from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, as well as some from the current decade. Visitors will be invited to tour the trailers and vote on their favorites.

Middlebury's Short Stop gas station pitches new car wash

MIDDLEBURY — Owners of the Middlebury Short Stop at 220 Court St. are seeking permission to build a two-bay car wash on the gas station property next The Centre shopping plaza.

Jolley Associates would locate the new car wash behind the existing gas station store, in place of a 950-square-foot truck refueling canopy currently on site. The plan would also require moving an existing dumpster and storage shed onto an island east of the proposed car wash building, according to a project narrative that Jolley has filed with the town.

Jennings and Ponder bring "Vampire Princess" alive

MIDDLEBURY — Storytellers Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder perform their new program of eerie traditional folk tales and music, “The Vampire Princess,” at Ilsley Library in Middlebury on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m.

The Montpelier Times Argus called the show “rich entertainment: riveting, macabre, and very funny.” Seven Days said it was “a delight to watch” and identified the performers as “Vermont treasures.”

Two local women involved in Rt. 7 car accident

NEW HAVEN — Vermont State Police are investigating a two-car accident Thursday on U.S. Route 7 in New Haven.

Police say the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Town Hill Road and Route 7. Loretta Lawrence of Ferrisburgh was driving northbound on Rt. 7 and struck the Toyota Camry driven by RoseMary Payne of Bridport, as Payne turned off of Town Hill Road.
