Fabulous Flea Market returning to THT

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater is pleased to announce the 10th annual Fabulous Flea Market, arriving at the Town Hall Theater on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each year, a variety of vendors and dealers set up shop inside the theater to sell antiques, folk art, prints, rugs, quilting items, hand-knit multicolored socks and other desirable items. The theater is stuffed with an eye-popping variety of delightful things to buy. Almost Home will be selling delicacies and coffee so shoppers can grab a snack or a meal as they browse.

Elinor Steele Friml shows 40 years of tapestry art

Vermont designer/weaver Elinor Steele Friml will display examples representing 40 years of dedication to the art of contemporary hand-woven tapestry. The exhibit will include works from several of her series, including abstract and impressionistic images, landscapes and geometric compositions.

Maiden Vermont brings high-flying holiday show to Middlebury

The excitement is building for Maiden Vermont’s holiday show, “Come Fly With Us.” The Maidens will take the Town Hall Theater stage in Middlebury this Saturday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. With their rich harmony and bell ringing tones, Maiden Vermont will sing songs of the season along with songs that they love all year. The Maidens will also be performing renditions of traditional folk music with body percussion taught to them by their guest artist Moira Smiley.

Town Hall to present live broadcast of National Theater's 'Folllies' on Nov. 16

Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical “Follies” is staged for the first time at the National Theatre in London and will be broadcast live to Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater this Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m.

New York, 1971 — There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves.

Jackson Gallery presents its Tenth Annual Holiday Show

The Jackson Gallery will soon be filled with original, handmade and hand printed art, fine crafts and jewelry, for the gallery’s Tenth Annual Holiday Show. This exhibition will feature 22 regional artists whose work represents a wide variety of media and styles. This year’s exhibit will include several artists who are new to the show, as well as more three-dimensional works, both decorative and functional.

Town Hall Theater is bringing something extraordinary to Middlebury on Sunday:  the first-ever Vermont performance by the Howard University Gospel Choir.

Formed on the campus of historically black Howard University, Washington, D.C., in 1968, the Howard Gospel Choir has performed throughout the world.  As the first college choir of its kind, HGC is a trailblazer for all gospel music ministries on collegiate campuses.

MIDDLEBURY — Three-hundred-twenty-five years ago, in a farm village now just a three-and-a-half-hour drive away, 14 women and five men were hanged and one man pressed to death with stones over accusations of witchcraft.

The incident has long captured the imagination of writers, artists and observers of human nature, so much so that in many ways it is still with us today.
