VERGENNES — Drug problems continued to keep Vergennes police busy between Jan. 14 and 20. On Jan. 15, police were notified of an untimely death of a 41-year-old resident of Walker Avenue that they said could be drug-related.
Police said they received a call from the assistant medical examiner at Porter Hospital, where Vergennes Area Rescue Squad personnel had taken the woman, asking police to investigate her untimely death.
Police said an autopsy performed by the state’s chief medical examiner would ultimately determine the cause of death.
ADDISON COUNTY — The Vermont State Police in New Haven are investigating the theft of a 2005 Polaris 700XC snowmobile from a Route 7 home in New Haven. The theft occurred sometime after 11 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 5.

VERGENNES — Vergennes police joined four other law enforcement agencies at a Route 7 New Year’s Eve sobriety checkpoint near the Ferrisburgh fire station, at which one driver was cited for drunken driving, among other things.
After stopping him at the checkpoint, police cited Fred Winrock, 39, of Essex Junction for driving under the influence of alcohol, fourth offense; possession of marijuana and narcotic drugs; and driving with a suspended license.
VERGENNES — Vergennes police charged a 20-year-old Northlands Job Corps student with aggravated assault following an Oct. 29 beating that resulted in the victim being treated in Porter Hospital for a broken nose and broken finger.
Police arrested Parish Gregory, 20, of South Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 30, and he was held for lack of $20,000 bail until he was arraigned.
ADDISON COUNTY — On Nov. 2 Vermont State Police in the New Haven barrack concluded an investigation that led to three Leicester residents being arrested on drug charges, and a fourth arrested for other alleged offenses.
