Bristol selectboard seeks applicants for fire station panel

BRISTOL — The Bristol selectboard will be accepting applications from those wishing to serve on a planning committee as the search for an improved facility for Bristol’s fire department proceeds. Committee members will do the legwork on site selection and may continue serving into the design stage. Applications for the committee will be posted on the town’s website later this week, and will also be available at the town office.

Bristol asks questions about firehouse bond

BRISTOL — At a Monday evening public hearing on a proposed expansion of the Bristol firehouse, a handful of residents — many who live near the facility — raised questions about the size of the building and the speed with which the proposal is being pushed on voters.

On Town Meeting Day, Bristol residents will vote on a $375,000 bond to fund an architectural design to expand the fire department’s North Street facility and to purchase a neighboring lot at 2 Garfield St. to accommodate the expansion.

In Bristol, there is enough public dissention over the location of a proposed new fire station to warrant further review. To do that, town residents would reject the current proposal they’ll face on Town Meeting Day and look forward to fine-tuning the proposal — or considering another — later in the year.
