Vermont paid family leave law inches closer to reality

Posted on April 8, 2019 |
By John Flowers and Xander Landen of VTDigger.org

But in reality, as we all know, new seasons do not appear on command at predetermined times.  Spring, in particular, always seems to arrive both slowly and gently in Vermont.

Dairy Summit wrap Mark Magnan left and David Mears right CMYK use this one.jpg

JAY — Dairy farmers have a role in the water quality debate in Vermont, but they might not survive to participate in that debate if market pressures continue as they are.

These conclusions could be drawn from presentations at the Jay Peak resort last week, where, after state officials opened the Agency of Agriculture’s Northern Tier Dairy Summit on Monday, three work groups were invited to present abridged versions of their reports to the 150 dairy farmers and many others in the audience.

It's time to take down your bird feeders

Posted on March 28, 2019 |
By Addison Independent

MONTPELIER — The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department says warm spring weather and melting snows will cause bears to come out of their winter dens in search of food. The department recommends taking down bird feeders by April 1 to avoid attracting bears.
