Posted on February 6, 2012 |
By Andrew Stein

BRISTOL — Three candidates will vie for two seats on the Bristol selectboard in Town Meeting Day voting on March 6.

While current selectboard Chair Joel Bouvier is running uncontested for his second three-year term, incumbent Sharon Compagna, running for her a two-year term, will face competition from Tim Heffernan.

Compagna has been on the board since 2007, when she was appointed to take the spot of her husband, Armand, who died that year. She won election to that seat on Town Meeting Day that year, and again in 2008 and 2010

BRISTOL — The Bristol selectboard took out its budgetary scalpel at its Monday meeting to further shave down a fiscal year 2013 municipal spending plan.

But despite the board cutting an additional $6,000 from the budget that evening, they OK’d a 2012-2013 spending plan that would result in an increase of $96,647, or 5.96 percent, in the amount to be raised by taxes.

Bristol planners work to resolve extraction zone hangup

Posted on January 23, 2012 |
By Andrew Stein

BRISTOL — At its Tuesday meeting the Bristol Planning Commission told a group of 30 concerned townspeople that a zone prohibiting gravel extraction in and around Bristol’s downtown area would still be included in the new town plan. The perimeters of that zone and the language that accompanies it are still being hashed out.

After commissioners realized last year that there were discrepancies between different accepted versions of that no-extraction zone, they decided to go back to the drawing board to better define it.
