WoodDuck2950.jpg

MONKTON — Picture this: an 11-year-old wood duck sits on the couch with a Vermont family, watching TV and eating their popcorn.

This is no hallucination, but a real example of a worrying behavioral pattern: wild animal imprinting on humans.

Posted on July 2, 2018 |
By Nick Garber

The state’s attention in recent weeks was focused on the budget negotiations between Gov. Phil Scott and the Legislature, which prompted a special session of the Legislature and warnings of a state government shutdown. Last week that situation ended when Scott said he’d let the Legislature’s third Budget Bill become law without his signature, which it did on July 1.

MIDDLEBURY — Gray skies and mild temperatures didn’t prevent hundreds from turning out to the fourth annual Foodaroo Festival, held Sunday at the Marble Works in downtown Middlebury.

The food truck festival has been organized since its 2015 inception by Middlebury UndergrounD, an arts and events non-profit founded by Lisa and Andy Mitchell. For its first two years, the event was held on Merchants Row, but graduated last year to the picturesque park overlooking Otter Creek Falls.
