MIDDLEBURY — In 2012, the Middlebury College men’s lacrosse team finished with a 4-9 record and missed not only the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time in years, but also failed for the first time to qualify for the NESCAC playoffs.

But it might be fair to call that record a little misleading: The Panthers lost five NESCAC games by one goal, and another by two goals.

“I don’t think we were very far off last year,” said Coach Dave Campbell on Tuesday.

VERGENNES — Vergennes aldermen moved close on Tuesday to setting a May vote on a $1.45 million bond to pay for a 4,611-square-foot North Main Street police station.

That plan would remove more than 1,300 square feet — a drive-in evidence processing area, offices for the force’s sergeant and detective, and fitness and intake/dispatch rooms — from the proposed $1.85 million, 5,940-square-foot station that Vergennes voters defeated on Town Meeting Day, 302-292. It would remain on the same site.

VERGENNES — The residents of the John Graham Emergency Shelter in Vergennes know what it’s like to be without a home.

FERRISBURGH — The wait for a fully signalized traffic light at the Ferrisburgh intersection of Route 7 with Little Chicago and Middlebrook roads might still best be measured in years.
