VERGENNES — The Addison County Solid Waste Management District (ACSWMD) board of supervisors have asked its attorney to draft an offer for Ferrisburgh’s town-owned, 34.91-acers just outside of Vergennes, according to ACSWMD manager Teri Kuczynski.

If Ferrisburgh and ACSWMD officials make a deal and ACSWMD obtains permits, the site would be used for a regional recycling and trash collection site to replace the Vergennes recycling center, which is probably closing on Dec. 31.

And a win by No. 4 Otter Valley on Friday will guarantee one of the three area programs will take the field at the University of Vermont on Nov. 3 with a shot to win the D-II title.

The 2-12 Tigers’ 2-0 home win on Wednesday over No. 9 Springfield moved them into a Friday quarterfinal at No. 1 Mount Abraham (8-3-3).

FERRISBURGH — The Ferrisburgh selectboard last week agreed to make a formal offer to former Sand Road dog rescuer Sheila McGregor that could bring to a close what had been a costly and at times heated legal dispute.

The board adopted a motion that the town would be willing to forego all pending town fines and penalties against McGregor — if she drops her appeals of Ferrisburgh health and zoning board actions filed against her Heidi’s Haven dog rescue operation.
