Goshen town meeting wrap-up 2018

Posted on March 8, 2018 |
By Addison Independent

GOSHEN — After the annual potluck Monday evening, Goshen residents passed every item on the ballot in a relatively tame town meeting.

Voters will go forward with a general fund spending plan of $242,753, which represents a $9,936, or 4.2 percent, increase from last year’s approved budget of $232,817. Voters had thought they were voting on a $229,253 spending plan; the extra $13,500 will cover a new stainless steel sander and a new moldboard (the curved metal on a snowplow’s front end used to move snow) to improve care of town roads.

By Addison Independent

GRANVILLE — Granville residents could have made several decisions to significantly alter the structure of their town offices, but 48 out of 229 registered voters chose instead to keep things mostly the same.

The town report listed more than 20 benefits Granville would gain from starting its own town highway department; currently roadwork is contracted out. Those benefits included repairs that would be done in a timely manner and better-managed costs. The proposal, which included $199,800 to purchase road equipment and hiring a full-time road foreman, was defeated.
