Three arraigned after Hancock meth bust

HANCOCK — Vermont State Police arrested three Hancock residents on charges of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine  on Tuesday, Nov. 20, following an investigation at their respective homes off Route 125.

'God of Carnage' coming to Town Hall Theater

Hancock Town Pride committee to discuss new town green

HANCOCK — The Hancock Town Pride Committee recently received a $2,500 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Small and Inspiring grant program. The grant will help further the Hancock Town Pride’s mission of fostering community spirit, beautifying the town and offering events and activities by creating the Hancock town green. The green will be located on Route 100 in front of the Hancock Fire Station.

Women arrested for sale of heroin in Leicester

ADDISON COUNTY — The Vergennes Police Department, in joint operations with the Bristol Police Department, recently conducted undercover purchases of heroin from two women in Addison County.

Both women — Jolee A. Ladd, 39, and Carrie A. Chappell, 43, — on May 22 were subsequently arrested during the execution of a search warrant by the Vergennes, Bristol and Vermont State police and the Addison County Sheriff’s Department at their home at 1454 Fern Lake Road in Leicester.

Veysey wins a car in annual Lions Club raffle

VERGENNES — Following the Memorial Day festivities, the Vergennes Lions Club drew the winners’ tickets for their 2013 Vehicle Raffle. The winner of the grand price, a Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, was Katherine Veysey of Addison. The second-prize winner of the Cloud Nine Fishing Charter was Audrey Tucker of Vergennes, and the third-prize winner of the stay at River’s Edge Campground was Lynette Delisle of Vergennes.

Mary Hogan School athletes enyoy their day in the sun

MIDDLEBURY — Another enjoyable day was had by young athletes at the recent Mary Hogan Elementary School track and field meet, which the school’s physical education department holds every year to introduce fifth- and sixth-grade students to the sport and allow them a fun few hours in the sun.

Several students made the most of it at the May 28 event, which was held at the Middlebury College track: Multiple event winners included Ada Anderson, Ben Turner, Nicky Niemo, Talin Teague, Merry Kimble, Caleb Benz and Tyler Buxton.

Middlebury's Todd Stone stretches his lead in auto racing

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Middlebury racecar driver Todd Stone won one race and finished fourth in another on Saturday at South Plattsburgh’s Airborne Speedway to pad his Modified point lead.

Stone drove the G. Stone Motors No. 1x to his second win of the season in the completion of a race that had been halted by rain the week before, and then started 12th and placed fourth in the Della Auto/Subway 30-lap main event that followed.

Vermont State Police Log: Residents report items stolen from their garages

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into several calls in the past week about lawn trimmers and other items stolen from the garages of several Cornwall and Weybridge residences.

On June 4 troopers received a report from the owner of a home on Clark Road in Cornwall that someone had entered his garage and stolen gasoline and a weed whacker.

Middlebury Police Log: Metal for cash ends in three arrests

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police arrested three people on June 3 in connection with “several incidents of theft of metal (to be turned in for cash)” and theft of a purse from Earth Waste Management on Route 7 South. Police cited 49-year-old Robert Miller of Ripton, Jacob Bachand, 20, of Bristol and Alexander Vincent, 37, of Middlebury for grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
