By Russell Jones

BRANDON — On Town Meeting Day, March 5, Brandon residents will choose from among four candidates for three seats on the selectboard.

Board chair Seth Hopkins and Selectman Brian Coolidge both are running for re-election to one-year selectboard terms, but Selectman Devon Fuller said he won’t run for another three-year term.

“We have a great team working for the town right now,” Hopkins said. “I am running for re-election because I feel I still have something of value to offer as part of that team.”

MIDDLEBURY — Dancing at the Middlebury Recreation Center has been a joyous, yet at-times painful activity. The hard flooring hasn’t been friendly to the feet and muscles of those who’ve used it for disciplines ranging from ballet to hip-hop.

By ABAGAEL GILES

MIDDLEBURY — This past Friday, Feb. 8, Middlebury College distributed applications to 80 staff members for formal separation packages that include incentives for them to leave their positions.

The voluntary buyouts are the result of a workforce planning process that the college initiated in June 2018, with the goal of reducing the college’s roughly $10.6 million annual operating deficit. In a Feb. 8 statement, college officials said they expect about 50 full- and part-time staff members at its Middlebury campus to take advantage of the program.
