MIDDLEBURY — Storytellers Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder perform their new program of eerie traditional folk tales and music, “The Vampire Princess,” at Ilsley Library in Middlebury on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m.
The Montpelier Times Argus called the show “rich entertainment: riveting, macabre, and very funny.” Seven Days said it was “a delight to watch” and identified the performers as “Vermont treasures.”
MIDDLEBURY — The Women Business Owners Network (WBON) will meet Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 8-9:30 a.m. at Rosie’s restaurant in Middlebury. This month’s presentation is “Google Tools for Small Businesses,” with Nancy Shuttleworth of the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC).
BRISTOL — The Mount Abraham/Vergennes football team bolted to a 36-0 halftime lead against visiting Division III rival Oxbow Union High School on Saturday and cruised to 36-21 victory.
The Eagles scored three rushing touchdowns and one each on defense and special teams in taking their decisive early advantage.
ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abe edged Vergennes to remain unbeaten and highlight area high school boys’ soccer action in the latter half of last week.
In other action, Middlebury dropped a pair of road games, and VUHS picked up a tie away from home. Otter Valley (4-6) was idle.
VERGENNES — On Friday, the Vergennes Union High School girls’ soccer team hosted Division I Rice, which came in on a four-game winning streak that included victories over two of the top squads in D-II, Milton and Mount Abraham.
The 6-3-1 Green Knights looked like a team on a roll, carrying play and outshooting the 4-5 Commodores, 18-4, and defeating them, 4-0.
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school girls’ soccer play, all on this past Friday, Mount Abraham and another Division II contender battled to a tie, while Middlebury and Otter Valley dropped road contests. Vergennes fell to Rice at home (See story).
BENNINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School football team had little trouble with winless host Mount Anthony on Friday night, scoring four first-quarter touchdowns in 3:05 on the way to a 48-6 Division I victory.
The Friends of the Vergennes Opera House are urging neighbors and friends to come out to the opera house on Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. for a memorable evening with country music star Jamie Lee Thurston and special guests Jimmy T and the Cobras.
