Cecelia Blaise

BRISTOL — Cecelia Anne Blaise, 91, of Bristol died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on May 15, 2012. Born Cecelia Valigursky on May 25, 1920, she was the youngest of six daughters born to Joseph and Victoria Valigursky.

She grew up in Unionville, Conn., and was working in Hartford when she met Lloyd Booska. They married on Valentine’s Day in 1944 and together raised four children. He died in 1970 and in 1981 she married Leonard Blaise of Bristol.

Almira Bourcier

MIDDLEBURY — Almira C. Bourcier of Middlebury died in the Arch Room of Helen Porter on May 11, 2012, at age 95. 

A long-time resident of Middlebury, Almira earned her BA at Russell Sage College and her MA at Middlebury College, where she met her husband, Claude Bourcier, a professor in the French department. Almira taught French and Spanish at M.U.H.S. and was the first teacher to create a sabbatical program where she arranged a year of study in France to enrich the learning experience of her students here.

Theresa Brown

VERGENNES — Theresa J. Brown, 72, of Vergennes died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

Born in Northfield on Aug. 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Maria (LeFabvre) Goyette.

Relatives say she had many interests, including gardening, cooking, sushi, crossword puzzles, bingo, Yahtzee, watching game shows, store couponing, listening to country music and especially cats.

Susan Kay Hall

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Susan Kay Hall, 54, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., died May 3, 2012, at her home in Arizona.

She was born to Frederick and Fleurette Ouellette-Hall on Dec. 30, 1957, in Burlington. She grew up in Higganum, Conn., and was a graduate of Middletown High School in Middletown, Conn. She later went on to get a bachelor’s degree in science at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

Elizabeth Handrich

FAIRVIEW, Mich. — Elizabeth M. Handrich, 79, of Fairview, Mich., passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich.

Elizabeth was born in Cornwall, Vt., on Feb. 11, 1933, to Charles and Mabel (O’Dell) Gero. She moved to Mio, Mich., in 1955 from Vermont. She worked for the Rose City Nursing Home for many years as a nurse’s aide, then as a homemaker. She also worked as a cook for The Snack Shop in Fairview, and also was a babysitter for many children in the community.

Margot Hilton

ORWELL — Margot Hykes Hilton, 66, of Orwell, Vt., passed away at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, Vt., on May 4, 2012, after a 4-1/2-year struggle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1945, to Dr. James and Margot Hykes, and grew up in Haverford, Pa. Margot graduated from the Baldwin School and was a member of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church during her years in Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College, and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Elmer Kimball

BRANDON — Elmer W. Kimball, 88, died surrounded by loved ones at his home in Brandon on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

He was born May 31, 1923, in Weybridge to Willard and Beatrice (Austin) Kimball. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Lou Williams, on May 5, 1950. He was a veteran, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, from 1943 until 1951.

William McIntyre

BRISTOL — William J. “Bill” McIntyre, 85, of Bristol died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Hillsdale, N.J., the son of Henry and Ellen Warning McIntyre.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 19 in Bristol. His relatives say he was proud of his career as a truck driver.
