Margaret M. Sanchez

MIDDLEBURY — Margaret M. Sanchez, 40, of Middlebury died at Porter Hospital unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. She was born Oct. 6, 1967, in Daly City, Calif., daughter of the Jose Sanchez of Redwood City, Calif., and the late Elinor Sanchez of Middlebury.

After graduating from MUHS she earned degrees from both Randolph Macon Women’s College and George Mason University in Virginia. She taught elementary school in Virginia, Maine and Vermont.

Those who knew here said she was very loved and immersed into her community — her passion was literacy. She worked with several literacy programs with the schools and llsley Library. She also volunteered at the Ronald MacDonald house in Burlington. Her second passion was food and cooking. She told friends that she enjoyed her current employment with Otter Creek Bakery and making all kinds of international cuisines and sharing them with her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her children Mallory Pipich, Madelyn, Meilena and Marshall Sanchez all of Middlebury; her sister and brother-in-law, Monica Sanchez Webb and Stephen Webb; and a brother, Stephen Sanchez of Warren; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Universal Unitarian Church in Middlebury. A memorial mass will be held at a later date to be announced at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Middlebury. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Orwell.

Donations can be made to The Sanchez Children Fund and sent to the attention of Barbara Bourne at Mary Hogan Elementary School, Middlebury VT. 05733.
