David A. Kilty

BURLINGTON — David A. Kilty, 50, formerly of Middlebury, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Born in Endicott, N.Y., on Nov. 4, 1958, he was the son of Paul and Virginia (Moore) Kilty.

He was a self-employed entrepreneur. He enjoyed reading, had a great thirst for knowledge, and enjoyed life.

He graduated from Vermont Community College in 2005 with an Associates of Arts.

He is survived by his father, Paul Kilty of Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Anne Gill of Carson City, Nev.; and three nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Moore Kilty, in 2001.

Friends may call Friday, Dec. 5, 1-2 p.m., at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jonathan New officiating. Burial will follow at the Case Street Cemetery in Middlebury.

Joseph Minott Kerr

FERRISBURGH — Joseph Minott Kerr, 79, died at his lakeside home in Ferrisburgh on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, after a ten-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in New York City on June 24, 1929, to John and Margaret (Minott) Kerr, he was raised in St. James, Long Island, N.Y., and attended Emerson School and Exeter Academy. He received a degree in business administration from Northwestern University. During the Korean War he taught arctic survival to aircraft pilots and crews in California’s High Sierras for the U.S. Air Force.

His diverse professional career ranged from dealing with longshoremen in labor negotiations for General Foods in Hoboken, N.J., to working as a consultant with New York City’s Booze Allen Hamilton until 1965.

In the mid ‘60s, he and his wife, Mary, and three sons moved from Mendham, N.J., to Fayston, seeking a rural lifestyle closer to nature.
